What was suppose to be the purpose of the Great Worms from Beyond?

What an utterly stupid mechanic.

They’re there to be annoying.

That’s literally all there is to it.

They’re there to make you mildly irritated.

Because the questions the devs ask themselves isnt “How can we make this fun” and instead ask “How can we mildly annoy everyone” lol

Anti-flying agenda > fun

To annoy players, they add nothing to the game.

I guess that’s one way to look at it.

Another is that they wanted to add danger to flying like there was in old days that everyone keeps telling us about

Those stinkers. Literally, they smell SO bad that flying near them makes you fly slower.

Their existence makes no sense to me. I do not feel like they belong.

I’m so scared I’m flying slow, I have never seen anything so dangerous in WoW ever!

I mean they can literally kill you if you get to close, not to mention the annoying curse.

So some danger while not making it game breaking.

There is no danger though? It just slows you down

To give people camping the ivory cloud serpent something to look at.

Go give one a big hug.

It will 1 shot you.

I’ve gotten pretty good at skimming the ground while flying though. Kind of fun as a Druid to be a lil bird sometimes skimming the water/land.

EHHH.

Fly close enough and they do, in fact, melee you for an absolutely ludicrous amount of damage.

If you build up enough Worm Stink stacks it is unironically better to fly into one of them and get killed just so you can fly normally thereafter.

It’s stupid.

Players asked for the devs to account for flight instead of grounding them in the new areas. So the devs tried this. If they did damage or dismounted players, the qqstorm would have been epic.

The developers being petty and malignant.

It would be one thing if they didn’t ruin the expansion with over half of it being saddled with pathfinder, but this is just doubling down on philosophies that can’t die soon, fast, or hard enough.

Same thing as the daze mechanic. Makes you want to kick someone in the leg-fork.

In the “old” days the danger to flying was over places where you were not supposed to be, like the other factions towns and cities. They were not over the entire zone where you are questing. They are nothing but annoying, ment to slow you down and spend more time in the game.

N’Zoth is an enemy, enemies will try everything to impede or slow you down, no? Sure its annoying but things like this make sense.
