Can someone explain to me? Cause I really don’t understand why they even released this prepatch now when it’s clearly not ready. And all the interesting parts of the prepatch aren’t even in this part.
Honestly I’d rather it still be BFA than having this clunky patch, It’s actively making me not even want to log on.

Because its so far behind not even the prepatch was ready

They split it because they aren’t done with any more of it.
Would you have preferred not being able to connect while others were enjoying the zombie invasion?
I mean maybe you would… but I’d go out on a limb and say most people would have been even more unhappy.

What’s clunky about it? It seems fine to me.

Getting that “Open Beta” testing in to tweak things before Shadowlands release. Expect daily hotfixes and occasional server restarts as things are updated.

I’m not entirely sure that the “clunkiness” we feel is unintentional. Sure, there are some outliers like DKs double dipping magus of the dead damage, or hunter pets doing crazy damage. But those things are being hotfixed.
The clunkiness comes from class changes, some things being taken away momentarily because they’re locked in abilities we’ll get as we level to 60. Also, the world is now effectively tuned to a max level of 60, yet we’re stuck at 50. They nerfed BFA content to make up for that, but it doesn’t seem to have been enough in some cases. Feeling weaker is normal for this interregnum we have before SL content lets us be top of the food chain again.
I think they released it early to throw players a bone in light of having to delay the expansion. Whether or not that was the best idea, is subjective. But players were chomping at the bits to “get out of BFA content” and “get rid of corruptions” so I think that might have also influenced Blizzard to release the prepatch so early, especially since they don’t have a definite release date for Shadowlands.
The fact that the Scourge invasion isn’t activated yet, which was the bulk of the “new content” of this prepatch, is just salt in the wounds at this point.

I was so ready for the new customizations, leveling experience and to be rid of corruption that I couldn’t be happier. In fact, I don’t think I ever looked forward to a prepatch as much as this one. Different strokes I guess.

CYA for announcing a release date they had to know they couldn’t make.
Why announce a release date when you know you can’t make it? Your behind schedule but have financial forecasts dependent on that release. So create a fake crunch and get more work from your works force, get people buying the expansion and get people to re-up their subscriptions a month or two early.
Financially it looks similar to making your date and you split out the content part of pre patch to launch when the expansion is actually ready.
To stretch out sub time, no other reason

this is why there shouldn’t be implemented game rules in current expansion for next expansion unless new expansion is active.
Dang y’all, just sit back and enjoy the ride lol.

Not true. Streamlined leveling and customization are very interesting.
Worth it too. People are reporting bugs and glitches up and down the forums. Better to get this out of the way before the rest of the pre-patch (and it’s potential quirks) roll out.

Because they didn’t have enough players testing on PTR, so now all the players are effectively testing the patch out.
I ask myself that everyday. We could have had 8.3.7 until a week or 2 before the zombie launch, and they could have dropped this version of pre-patch (9.0.1) then or 9.0.2 pre-patch. Once I have the weekend to play I know that I will run of out things really quick to do.
Many of these bugs and glitches were reported in the PTR and Beta forums as well as using the in-game bug reporting tools on those platforms.
I don’t know if they get lost in the shuffle? I mean there are days when I create at 40 bugs on the Beta. Or if Blizzard just has different priorities on what to fix.

Only from people who don’t bother to inform themselves. If you subbed without noticing the announcement right on the launcher about what was coming, you have no one to blame but yourself.
So people like me would resub because they changed the leveling. That is the only reason I am playing. I had no interest in leveling 120 levels but now with the squish I am back leveling new characters
