What was endgame in each expansion?

I’m kind of curious as to what was the end of expansion (presumably open world?) zones in each expansion?

For instance, in MoP, there were the three islands. In Warlords, I think it was hunting rares around the edges of most zones, and in Tanaan Jungle. In Legion, I think it was hunting rares in Argus.

I wasn’t in Classic. I didn’t reach endgame in TBC (zoomed past it to WotLK). I don’t remember from WotLK or Cata. I think BfA was Nazjatar and Mechagon?

Mostly just wondering what zones to hit up in SL, after hitting 60, if I theme-level through an xpac.

End Game zones are Vale and Uldum now. Visions is the end game.

In WoD, it was getting rejected from 30 raid PuGs, getting into one, and getting no loot because it was on reserve. That and Apexis Crystal farming.

Maybe AFKing in Ashran to get alts some 700 ilvl gear.

For BFA, the end game for most people usually usually consists of the following:

  1. Uldum, Pandaria rare farming, vision collecting.
  2. Heroic-Mythic raiding
  3. +15 mythic dungeon farming.
  4. High arena battling.

Varies from person to person though.

The WoD endgame was hosting the BEST GARRISON PARTY EVER!

Running laps around dalaran in your expensive 20k mammut

So dalaran

In TBC, the endgame zone was the Sunwell Peninsula, a zone full of dailies that was progressively unlocked over time.

In Wrath, there was no endgame zone that I can think of. Argent Tournament was a small subzone that arrived before ICC. ICC came with a few dungeons, but not a zone.

Why do you think my NE guards are always in skimpy Xmas outfits?

I am sure they all hate my by now.

TBC was the land of dailies. You had Skettis dailies, Netherwing Dailies, Isle of Quel’danas dailies, plus fishing and cooking dailies.

Wrath was pretty much more of the same. We had weekly quests for dungeons and raids, plus the Argent Tournament.

I remember Cata had cooking and fishing dailies in Stormwind and Org but I mostly did non-stop PVP with some light Dragon Soul raiding during this expansion. We had Tol Barad and dailies there but it was the PVP zone so you could only do certain quests if your faction held it.

It was more than the islands in MoP. Farms were part of it. All gear could be upgraded too, so folks ran heroics, scenarios (heroic version), and lfr - mythic raids. Plus, we had Challenge Modes and world bosses…world bosses that were done regularly. There was also the legendary cloak grind that was split into multiple patches and spilled into PvP and the Krasarang daily/pvp area.

Honestly, they should just take most of what MoP did and reskin it every xpac…

My DK themed garrison has been stuck in Xmas for half a decade now.

I forgot how to switch it to Halloween.

There’s a butler type npc somewhere in the garrison for that…I think. Same one that switches your guards to different races. It’s been a while.

Vanilla: Fight old God, save azeroth. Then stop the servant of the Lich King, Kel’thuzad and save Azeroth. Or spam nax till you have full t3 set then stop playing.

TBC: Defeat the burning legion by going to outland and defeating the emissary of the burning legion, Illidan, and save Azeroth. Or spam Hyjal and BT for Tier 6, stop playing for a while, then get your butt kicked in the Sunwell and cry to blizzard to nerf it.

WOTLK: Defeat old God, defeat the lich king, and spam ICC for more than a year.

Cata: Hyjal is on fire, go kill Ragnaros and save Azeroth. Deathwing must be stopped, we need you at deepholm to save Azeroth. BUT WAIT, there is more, twilight’s hammer is trying to use forge of origination to destroy Azeroth, go to uldum and save azeroth. Dailies, dailies, and more dailies. Or do dragon soul till your eyes bleed and cry in the forum about how much dragon soul sucks and how much you hate revamped old world.

MOP: Both faction finds a new land, then recruit the locals to join your faction, OH NOES we have to stop Garrosh and bring him to justice. Or collect all challenge mode transmogs till next expansion.

WOD: Sounds of cricket and a tumbleweed rolls by.

Legion: Stop Burning Legion 2: Electric Boogaloo. Or spam mythic+ to make your character as broken as possible, and you can also keep collecting mage tower transmogs till next expansion.

BFA: Heal azeroth’s woooons. Recruit allied races for the war against the other faction in the warfront, but it’s really just AI. Sylvannas kills Saurfang while twirling her moustache and then it is finally time to defeat yet another old God. Either that or the end game is to collect your best corruptions and make your character as broken as possible.
