I thought mailing gold to your alts was against the rules, so I’d write letters pretending they were other players as a cover.
Back in WOTLK I had a recruit a friend buddy who used the teleport thing to bring me inside of the pink Netherstorm bubbles. He told me I couldn’t leave the bubble because there’s no oxygen outside and then “conveniently” had to go offline. I ran around forever at level 6 trying to figure out what I was supposed to do until he logged back on.
Edit: I still don’t know why I didn’t hearth.
That if I explored enough empty buildings in capital cities, that I would find some secret treasure that nobody else knows about.
Uhhh back when I first started playing I had no idea what a macro was. Somebody told me it’s where you can make your own spells. So I made the dumbest spells and wondered why they were not working. It was things like /cast berserker healing [heals Delvyngr for 5000 hp]
I still have them in my macros tab on my 54 warrior I haven’t touched since vanilla. That good ol days.
Thought soulbound meant I could’nt unequip it
I thought Rogues were a very hard class to play that only good players can master.
That you had to log off in a bed in an INN to get the most rested exp…
I played Gnome rogue, and loved it during vanilla. But my first 13 levels I thought intel was increasing my energy. LOL I had played d2 previously and everything was mana based. I got laughed at pretty hard when I figured it out.
I thought Dustwallow Marsh was a very hot spot Horde only area but I wanted to explore so I hit cat form on my NE druid and stealthed literally all over the zone. They can’t kill me on sight if they don’t see me, right?
Bonus: I was on a PVE server.
i thought dungeons were only for the ‘top-tier, best-players in WoW!’ …back in MoP, which is when i started. heck, i was so worried about that, i looked up tips for how to be a good dps (it had some ok tips, don’t remember them, except for ‘stand behind the enemy’.)
Blizzard plays their own game. Being 100% serious on that too. The way how they’ve been handling the game balance and systems, I wonder if they even play the game enough to see the frustrations that comes with playing the game for extended hours and certain content.
WHAT WAS A STUPID THING YOU BELIEVED AS A NEW PLAYER?
That I’d be able to play the game without being perpetually annoyed by the company.
Maybe not as a completely new player…but…back in 05…16 y/o me with open mic thinking the mic had to be right against my mouth.
…yeah that changed rather fast.
I thought that you had to be 21 or older to go to Brewfest. XD
That you wouldn’t be able to PVP at all on a Normal server back in 2004.
fake ID
I was so happy to save enough silver for some grey vendor gear. Thought it was pretty sick gear.
Come to think of it ive actually seen people go to stormwind Inn bed to log off, maybe this is still a thing
Started first account in late 2016.
That I’d be humiliated out of the game for being new and never be able to catch up. I seriously thought everyone would spot the newb.
Having no MMO experience prior, just watching people with 10 windows displaying stats and all made me feel like I was watching someone fly a 747.
I actually hid in Darnassus on my Worgen for a month hoping nobody would spot the newb.
Didn’t know anything about the auction house so was saving every copper I made for riding. Guildies couldn’t understand why my warrior couldn’t take down a sickly gazelle until they realized I wasn’t spending money to level skills. D’oh!
