Hello fellow fel-wielders.
I’ve been levelling this guy for fun as a ranged dps alt, but I’m not sure what spec I really want to play. I like the idea of summoning demons, which bodes well for demonology. But I also like the idea of flinging fel-fire at my enemies, which bodes well for destruction. Nothing about affliction DoT’s really catches my eye (sorry!) so I’ll give that one a skip.
What’s your personal experiences been like?
While ill always be demo, conflag might be my favorite spell in the game. Makes me feel like Roy Mustang.

Demonology for sure but I can’t say I have fun very often when the spec is trash pretty much 24/7 since vanilla.
I’ve Allways liked how demonology works and my felguard, it’s hard for me to play something else but I have no choice if I want to be competitive.
Enjoy playing raw? Demo. It needs some rough edges polished up and plenty of tweaks and adaptations but it feels good. Afflic behind it. Destro feels wrong atm.
For random bgs and 2s, desto-besto. For pve content I really dig demo. Demo has a bit of ramp up, but I think its a pretty proactive/proccy spec so I recommend it.

I really want to go demo lock for SL but it’s ramp up time sucks in mythics. I don’t raid. I only do mythics. Im prolly gonna go frost mage
When I first started playing my lock I went with Demo because I wanted my Felguard. I didn’t have your normal build though. I went deep enough to get the Felguard, but I didn’t put all my points in Demo. Sadly I don’t quite remember the talents I used, but all I remember is that when I was out questing solo I never had to stop for mana. And if I didn’t do something stupid I hardly ever had to stop to heal up. It was a fun build, but the downside was I wasn’t able to put up the dps numbers others could so that’s why I had dual specced to Dest when I wasn’t running solo. I miss being able to use talents from all three trees if you wanted. I stoped playing a little after Cata, and just started back a few months ago. Now I’m Dest.
For the aesthetics? Demo hands down. You simply do more with demo than with aff and destro. You don’t really see anything that you cast as affliction, and destruction is—well let’s be honest it’s just chaos bolt. Demo has a lot of pleasing spells that will dig up the geek you suppressed in high school.
Not to mention summoning an entire legion of demons through a nether portal is my absolute favorite thing to do. I definitely suggest demo.
Destro for me. Love the pace and burning the world down with my green fire is awesome. Green rain of fire plus infernals makes me giggle
another vote for Demo.
When you get done with the ramp up and start slinging spells and demons from the hip and Demonbolt keeps proccing and you get a massive army of imps it just feels great.
I just wish demo didn’t suck in pvp
Aff coz I’ve mostly been doing PvP this expac since other content has been horrifically boring and grindy.
That being said, I’m still gonna be playing aff come SL coz it was always my main spec up through Legion, then they screwed the whole thing up when they touched unstable affliction (which they never should have done), making it this boring af dump spec that doesn’t fit the original feel of the spec whatseover.
So glad they’re reverting those changes and can’t wait to main aff once again.

I really wish supreme commander Ion would give us his blessing and state, “We’d rather you play Demonology…now” All jokes aside. Demonology has the best animations, has awesome class fantasy, and is truly fun in comparison to the other two specializations.
Seems like Demo the last few expansions is just pigeon-holed into a patchwork niche, but imho it is still the most fun to play. To a large number of players, power of the specialization > than the fun of playing the respective specialization…or power=fun.
