So i finally decided to main a holy undead priest with enchanting for classic.
The group of people that i am rolling with only has 2-3 enchanters total, giving me a hood chance of cornering the market.
Plus, as a priest i should have no problems finding a group anyways
Originally i was planning on going tailoring for both bags, DE feed, and mooncloth CD.
The more i think about it; however, the more i feel compelled to ask: Would it be more beneficial to go gathering profession instead?
My biggest fear without tailoring is having a really rough time leveling enchanting. On the other hand, priest will be my main and i can flop to shadow for world pvp. Which would give me an edge in gathering to help farm money as well as feed my alts or the guild alchemist. (My second toon will probably be alchemist shaman).
Thoughts?
Really canât go wrong with tailoring. Thatâs the combination Iâm planning on doing.

You want tailoring at 60 to make those robes (cant remember name
) then drop it for whatever you want.
I will got engineering mining at first (on my priest) until i have enough cloth or greens to either lvl chanting to make wand then drop against for mining until i have enough cloth to be useful in tailoring
I hear tailoring is good because you can make things fairly easy that can be disenchanted.
Tailoring would be best. Can make your own outfits, make some decent gold and you can supply your own enchanting materials. Itâs what my mage or priest will be rocking.
tailoring, because you use priest.
Tailoring and Enchanting is a match made in heaven. Both get their mats from killing things and running stuff.
I did tailoring with enchanting as well way back when. However, if you want a mount at 40 I would make an alt that gathers ore and skins as well, because you will be using up all your cloth and magic items. You can get some gold from selling enchants, but usually not much until near max level.
Everyone says tailoring, but there are only 2 reasons to go tailoring as a priest imo.
- you are a minmaxer and want those sweet sweet robes
- you donât want to be bothered with farming gold and just want to sell moon cloth CDs every 4 days.
If neither of these appeal to you, you canât go wrong with mining or Herbalism. Everyone and their mother is going engineering this time around, and they will need lots of mats to level it. Same with potions. Everyone needs potions, lots of potions.
The only thing that appeals to me from that list is mooncloth. Though i also plan on farming gold regardless. So i dont know?
Is mooncloth, bags, and feeding enchanting good enough reasons to choose it over her alism? XD
Tailoring. You collect cloth in the world, make cheap things, then disenchant them for enchanting.
When I think âmoney making professionâ tailoring isnât usually at the top of the list. Itâs usually used for personal gain, in the form of Boe robes or bloodvine set bonuses. But you can definitely make some money out of it if you try. It really comes down to your farming preferences.
Do you like running around collecting flowers and generally avoiding combat? Or do you like the idea of killing endless humanoids for cloth, coin, and other drops to sell?
Engineering will be endgame 2nd profession.
Until youâre ready for that. I think skinning is not so hot for priest. But maybe Shadow Priests do farm animals fast. Bottom line is how fast you can down animals.
For Herbalism or mining, are you familiar with the routes? Is it something you enjoy like at least three hours a week of?
The mining while leveling would be nice, cause you can farm up all your engineering materials to level.
Herbalism is nice, but really to profit you have to hold that stuff until top guilds are hitting raids hard, or pvp ranks come. Selling early is terrible idea cause people are being cheap and saving for mounts and other stuff all of phase 1.
In any case, hope you find some profs to enjoy.
Ive been a herbalist since wrath⌠;p.
Do you think not having tailoring would make enchanting yoo difficult? I want to beable to relativly easily craft my first wand relatively fast.
If youâre already considering not having tailoring knowing about the end game gear, mooncloth, and bags then nothing is going to make you happy keeping it.
Enchanting is doable without tailoring but itâll be slower and you may have to go back to low level dungeons to get the mats you need.
As for an alternative, mining and herbalism will both be good. Mining because of how useful engineering is and how much ore it needs and herbalism because of the need for pots/flasks for end game.
If the stress test is anything to go by, finding a wand wonât be too terribly difficult. I found a random level 8bwand in the AH on day 2 of stress test 3.
But youâre concerned with getting a wand for you and a few friends, you canât go wrong with tailoring and enchanting. Just be warned, this combo will not only leave you broke when you get to 60, but will also leave your character gimped without having leveled first aid. Yes even priests should level first aid, itâs godly.
Not trying to steer people away from it! Enchanting is a great money maker at end game once you get the valuable patterns for it. But itâs a total gold and resource sink until then.
Tailoring and skinning until you have gold for your mount then dropping skinning for enchanting.
On your way to 40, sell leather and make bags for additional profit. Continue to level up tailoring as needed and send any excess crafted items to a bank alt for DE. Any level character can DE items and youâll have plenty of mats to start off with.
Thatâs the most efficient way to make gold and level up enchanting when youâre ready. Before level 40, enchanting items is a waste imo except for your weapon. With the vast amount of people playing Classic, youâll have no problems finding an enchanters.

Edit: Have your DE bank alt make low level wands for use and profit. They vendor for quite a bit.
At that point id rather just do alchemy and herb.
You could level it with herbalism then drop it for Alchemy later. Nice little gold making combo, especially if you have an alt to farm mats.
Ninjaing.
Nothing better than D/E a purple and hearing the lamentations of the party as you hearth out and log off.
