As I’ve been doing dungeons and getting better gear, I’m wondering if it’s a good idea to sell old/used gear or keep it. Not really sure. Some of them have better stats even though they might be a lower item level. So I’m not real sure if I should keep used gear or not.
Any thoughts?
Keeping the gear is really of no use, just takes up bag space.
Selling gets you coin.
If you were so inclined take up Enchanting as a profession, you can then disenchant your lower level gear…with a view to possibly selling that at the auction house/enchanting your gear.
All that being said, you will upgrade at a fairly regular rate, gold in your pocket is best option.

While leveling, your primary concern for gear should be whether it has more green numbers than what you’re currently wearing, and whether it’s an appropriate armor type for you.
If it meets neither of these conditions, selling the gear to an NPC vendor is going to be a very good source of gold early on.

while leveling, your primary goal is to have your bag as empty as possible when you go out questing or in a dungeon, because you lose money for every item you cant pick up due to a a full bag, just vendor every piece of gear your not using. you will be leveling fast and constantly replacing gear.

I forgot to mention if you get any “bind on equip” (green or blue) gear don’t equip it. Sell it on the auction house. Since your new the money is more important than a piece of gear you will quickly outlevel and use for a day. You get tons of blue Soulbound gear in dungeons. Top priority is buying 30 slot deep sea bags from the AH.

Definitely will start doing this. Didn’t know that when you bind on equip, you can’t sell at AH. Thank you for this information
At low levels, the proper main stats count for much more than the ilevel of the gear. Until level 80-ish, go whith what ever piece has the highest main stat for your class - agi, str, or int.

I forgot to mention training to fly and flying faster at various levels 60, 70, 80 is very expensive so save your cash. Flying and 30 slot bags are top priority. You’ll probably buy 16 slot bags until you can afford the 30 slotters.

Artisan flight at 70 and Master at 80 are just optional speed increases. Those can wait until later when 4k+ gold is pocket change (especially Master since it’s barely noticeable), no reason to stress over it on the very first character. Expert at 60 is only 250g and much easier to acquire by then than it used to be.
However, the prices are cheaper with higher Orgrimmar/Stormwind rep, down to 4k at Exalted. Most common way of increasing the faction reps is by wearing the faction tabard while running dungeons. The tabards are available from the quartermaster near the Org/SW flight masters, and each faction’s quartermaster also offers a 16-slot bag when their rep hits Revered.

Thx for the info I didn’t know about the exalted discount. I’ll grab some tabbards on my alts.

That’s why I included “appropriate armor type” as a qualifier. Mail and Plate gear at all levels should have interchangeable main stats. So you’re not going to see Int on your plate if you’re a Fury Warrior, or Str on your Mail if you’re a Hunter or Shaman.
