Perhaps I should tackle more seriously on pluses then? Starting with pugs. Unfortunately priest is one of the worst for some of the hardest healing affixes (I’m thinking of you, Grievous!), considering I main disc.
Another layer of this problem is that I’m an officer and I can’t really talk about these issues with my guildies (hence me being here, and on an off-server alt) and I’ve been feeling surplus being an officer that sucks at things…
Use Icyviens, watch pro players on youtube or twitch. Ask around on how you can improve. Actually put more focus and effort into what you’re doing. Dedication, Discipline, and Will power is what you need. If you have some sort of issues like attention disorder or what ever try using some add-ons. For new parts on your computer or a new computer try picking up over time or a second part time job. If you truly want something nothing will stop you in achieving your goals.
I’d try saving up for a better PC regardless. No amount of research, practice, and grinding will be able to save you if your framerate is so low that dying to Shad’har within the easiest third of the fight isn’t just commonplace but outright expected.
As Fobnop said earlier: 5-7 FPS is absolutely unplayable. You’re probably not that bad at playing this game, but your PC sure as hell is.
Try to set aside money for a new PC (very difficult right now, I know and understand that this might not be a good suggestion). You’ll see an improvement just from better FPS and graphics.
That is feasible! You sure one of those is enough for me to run wow smooth on medium settings, for a couple years? I don’t have to build up my own GPU with neon lights and coolers running colored iced water on them that would cost me $1000?
You wouldn’t believe the ammount of reading and watching and researching I do on healing classes, for years. I’m one of those altoholics too lol
There’s your issue.
I mean honestly it probably isn’t, but as someone who swapped to Warlock for 8.3 for my guild it’s been increasingly harder to do M+ simply because why would you take a Warlock over another class, even if said Warlock has consistent good performance?
And to be fair, I’d rather also do those higher keys on my Demon Hunter even though he is considerably lower geared because he performs better.
I’m just afraid of investing time and money on a new computer and getting great FPS but it being too late, people already learned to avoid me - and if I make a common mistake, it will just continue to validate that resentment - that’s what happens to me on pluses, I’m not bad but I keep running into issues like people running away from me after a trash pack is dead while having 4 stacks of bursting or of grievous.
It might be too late for my reputation.
Also I could switch mains but that takes a while even with catch up mechanics. What if I’m not good at them too?
For instance my rshaman is 20 ilvls behind my priest who is 473. I once ran her into a heroic run for guild alts (with a lucky higher FPS) and she didn’t keep up with other healers on HPS. She was my main some xpacs ago and I was so good at rshaman, nobody could beat me. And I was also really great at discipline back in WoD, before attonement healing. Sometimes I feel like I’m obsolete for this game, even tho I keep loving it.
It’s upgradable, and while the Radeon RX Vega 8 that came with the pre-built is a pretty low tiered card, (i would imagine you have to play at low settings), you do have the ability to upgrade, to the GPU i shown earlier. Same with the RAM, and so on.
As for years, it will last you longer then 2.
The lights and iced water cooling are just luxury items. The normal fans will suffice just fine.
And there are guides to show you how to open up the computer and how to take parts here and there out of it. Linus Tech tips come to mind to show you how to switch out GPU’s and RAMs. And PC Parts Picker for if you are interesting in building your own PC and need to know which parts to grab and such, and see what’s compatible. https://pcpartpicker.com/
If it makes you feel any better, there are new people coming in and old people going out all the time, and there’s guilds and group that fill every niche, skill and so on.
And when you do find that group/guild who will accept you, you not only back on track to rebuild that rep, but also have a pretty nice computer that won’t give you the same issues as before.
I main priest - sorry for posting on a different, off-server character (I touched this on a previous reply).
I did mained monk for a patch in Legion, and I also love how powerful Holy Paladin is. But after playing Discipline priest for so long I’d like to play a healing class that doesn’t require me to dps for healing.
I think Paladin might be shifting away from this on SL now that Glimmer will be optional (hopefully) but I’m not sure, I’ve seen some alpha streamers sticking to Crusaders Might talent which indicates melee dps to still be a thing…
