What to do when one guild hijacks /world channel for politics?

So as we know, /world is now a common way to trade items, chat when you’re bored, find groups, sell things, or just have fun with others in the community.

On my server Grobbulus, a pro-Trump guild (The Enclave) had one of their members randomly chosen to be the owner of this public channel. Since then, before logging out, they hand off ownership to a guildmate with a similar agenda: To ban any other guilds from advertising (except their own), ban anyone who disagrees with their political views, and to control anything else they personally do not like.

Getting banned from this channel is a massive handicap when other people are allowed to use the channel. Is there anything that can be done about this kind of hijacking? Is this against the WoW TOS?

It’s adorable that you assume the other side of that fence isn’t way worse. Get over it and make your own channel.

You can report them for greifing.

Ownership also resets when servers reset.

Or just make another channel and let ppl on your server know to join that channel

World isn’t an official channel so I really doubt anything here described is actionable.

Don’t take the bait.

I’d advise you to accept that for now, World on your server has been hijacked. That’s the danger with user-maintained channels.

Played the game from the very beginnng and off and on the last 15 years and have never, ever used the /world channel. I didn’t even know it existed. You will survive troll/snowflake.

Kinda weird that a Trump supporter is censoring people lol, you’d think they would empathize

Glad to hear it, I can’t wait for Daddy Trump to win again in 2020. MAGA.

There is another worldwide channel and it is official.

You mean the Horde supports Trump more than the Alliance? That makes an odd sort of sense…

On Mankrik, it’s pretty chatty.
You could get some people together and try to make a worldwide trading channel.

That’s all I got.

Have never heard of a ‘world’ channel. That sounds like a player created private channel and if so they can invite and uninvite who they want.

You’re either trolling or you are a snowflake that can’t just ignore the political chat on the user-created channel that you are not forced to use. I get sick of the continuous whining about frivolous nonsense.

The solution to this issue is for blizzard to add a global server owned channel.

Just ignore it. Blizzard won’t do anything about it, and the more people react to their child-like trolling, the more they do it.

Eventually they’ll get bored and move on.

Sure you do - do your business elsewhere. You don’t need to use that chat channel at all.

No one told you to open your mouth about that.

It sounds like a private channel. They can do what they want. Just like you join a raid run and make yourself a nuisance in some way they can remove you.

And yes their rules are fine.

It’s not about whether something is fair or right/wrong in the case, dude. It just is what it is. This guild has control of the channel. You’re helpless to do anything about it, and if you want to use it to do business, you have to play by their rules.

World is a player-created channel, therefore private.
