What to do once you are 80

I will admit it : I am completly lost about what’s the most efficient route to enter arenas.

I haven’t played retail in a while and I legit do not understand half of what I need to do. I just lvl’d via dungeons / battlegrounds because it felt easy and fast.

Do I go simply honor gear → conquest gear → end ?

I seem to see people talking about tokens you can use to purchase some pieces.

Thank you!

Ye. Bloody token gear while in queue from wpvp as it’s only 3 ilevs lower than conquest. You’ll also get a quest that gives you 9 639 heraldry items which let you craft a 50/50 stats piece of any stats via work orders.

You can also buy them heraldry items directly from the vendor at the same cost per piece as conquest gear, they just let you specify stats and add embellishments

Basically!

Honor gear first, then conquest.

Some exceptions:
DO NOT BUY WEAPONS
Once you earn 2500 conquest, you get tokens in the mail you can exchange for free weapons.

-you get 9 heraldries worth 175 conquest each that you can use to craft embelish gear. These are extremely minor upgrades and can help you gear quicker.

You can for sure. There are a few easy paths to get gear now.

  • Buy the starter honor gear off the AH if you have nothing. Usually isn’t too much and it’s decent.
  • You can almost entirely gear through world PvP. If you have warmode on, you can pick up the crates that drop or even loot assassin loot boxes. Bloody coins are also from world PvP quests and kills and usually is enough to get you a few pieces quick, especially if there is a quest up.
  • Then just focus on the daily BG quests.
  • When you win your first rated PvP match of any type (arena, blitz, shuffle), you will get a quest for 9 of the crafting trophies or w/e they are called. That will allow you to craft 2-3 pieces of max ilvl gear for PvP.
  • You get a few tier piece at 1600.
  • You get a free weapon after farming 2500 conquest.

I’d just check out someone playing your spec/build to see how they have their gear setup. Some specs rely heavily on crafted pieces while others use almost none.

Just play the game. All the try hard sweaty min max nonsense will burn you out.

You can buy any green/blue BoE items from AH iLvl 538 or higher and they will scale to iLvl 600 in PvP. If you have more gold, buy the 616 green pvp gear.

Not me >:|

Daily BG wins ( 1st win of the day in each variant is extra CQ ), crates between queues and weekly PvP quests will get you there pretty quick and get you back in the swing of PvP before you jump right in to arenas.

Edit: Also, I like to do BGs from 78-80. I’ll hit 78 and go kill rares for the ilvl541 gear they drop and kinda cruise at an ‘advantage’ through BGs. Sitting at 30% into 79 on my DH with 5.4k honor from doing this ( mixed with some crates I’ve snagged ).

very important think to note (apologies if someone already pointed this out)

you can get a free piece of tier gear when you hit 1600 in any rated bracket. you can pick up the tier gear in ank’het or however it’s spelled.

wow pvpers wonder why nobody participates in this form of the game, then when a person asks a simple question most of the comments are either making jokes or saying something silly like this.

he didn’t even ask what gear is best, he just asked what the best route for gearing in pvp is.

c’mon man, if you’re not going to be helpful why bother?

What I said was genuine advice. Just play the game. Crazy how you’re upset by that.

World Quest Tracker addon → world quests give you bloody tokens, you can buy 593 (scaled 636) pvp gear with them.

at 2500 total earned conquest you get FREE conquest weps

You can also craft Algari pvp gear, with the purple ribbons, which most classes need some of anyway because of stat priority and scaled to 639. Some classes can have literally all Algari gear, such as Rsham.

It’s kinda confusing, I came back after not playing in like 5 years, but once you understand it it’s really fast. You can have 639 pvp ilvl in a single night now.

Telling them to play is helpful. It’s how you get gear, it’s how you get a better idea of how the classes work in PvP and it’s how you learn how to PvP. No reason to be sensitive about it :woman_shrugging:

He was also asking a pretty general question, which wasn’t just about gearing. I guess Michael Jordan’s “Just Do It” would be considered toxic too.

it’s not genuine advice, it’s a non-answer. it’s not helpful to him at all.

so if you went to the doctor and the doctor said “just be healthy,” that’d be useful advice for you?

you actually gave real actionable advice in a separate comment. so kudos to you. you actually helped. hearing “just play the game” doesn’t actually give any direction for the OP. it’s effectively useless.

yeah homie, you’re not michael jordan. do you think when jordan runs his basketball camps for kids, the only instruction he gives is “just do it”? that statement was made in a completely different context. also, OP asked a very specific question. if your reply was the only one he got, he’d essentially be in the exact same spot. and if he took it to heart and just played, it’d probably take him at least 4x longer to gear, since he wouldn’t have learned all the ways to get gear mentioned by actually helpful individuals in the thread.

food for thought, homie. you’re not jordan. more like dennis rodman.
