What to do as a geared hunter

Fairly geared hunter, 6/8 t1, rhokdelar, etc. All in all above the average in terms of gear, but apparently I’m just awful at being a hunter. I can’t solo DM Tribute which is basically expected of any high end hunter, and it’s not even close, I can’t even get to the boss to try working on him, I run across all sorts of nonsensical issues that nobody else seems to experience, namely FD getting resisted. I’m spending more gold in repairs / consumables trying to solo it than I would be earning just farming something basic open world.

I don’t have good luck, been mining 300 since the middle of 2nd week and have 1 arcane crystal to show for it, dropped skinning bc I couldn’t get devilsaurs to save my life (picked up engi)

My issue is, as far as I can tell I’m basically the worst hunter, I can’t farm gold, I have a bunch of raid gear and no epic mount, I can’t solo any dungeons which is supposed to be the only thing hunters are good at, I know that with each phase release I’m going to get worse as far as dps goes until I’m just a vaguely decorated tranq shot bot. There doesn’t seem to be anything in the open world that’s remotely good to farm, I try elementals in silithus and get 1 essence of air at approx 143 kills and still just the 1 when I reached 188 and got tired/left, several full red repairs at 12g each from failed DM east/DM north runs, I can’t really help plvl guildies because I have no aoe, idk what to do or if its even worth trying to keep playing. I feel worthless

Yeah I encounter this same issue myself… mainly with dm north solo’ing the dogs/bugs/first boss. Once I get passed the dogs its easy but the chances of me dying are about 75% on dogs I can’t seem to figure out how people mass pull as mage and don’t get one shot when leaving ice block. Not sure if it’s a private server thing or I’m just bad

watched a video on this not too long ago. he mentioned something about having sta gear and something else… but I can’t remember what it was.

Right the necropile set… I have most of the set just no bracers and I still sometimes die to bleeds if I escape the one shot. It’s pretty brutal for sure, I try to leave block after I see big immunity stacks but they all attack at different times so it seems to almost never work. For efficiency sake I stick to zul just so I can at least make gold and not be repairing constantly… and the run to DM north is agonizing on death over and over

Idk I’ve watched countless videos, I have the consumables, I use the macros, I step where they step and I get different results.

I think with ice block they use macros to blink or something out of the ice block? eg /cancelaura ice block /cast frost nova but that’s just what one of my guildies does

do you happen to have improved feign?

May just be a l2p issue. Just keep trying and you don’t have to do exactly as the video does. Try your own smaller pulls if possible until you get the hang of it. Don’t give up

No :c I had read that imp feign was mostly useful for preventing resists on mobs = to your level and higher but the mobs who are resisting are like 57. Not sure what talents i could drop for it as I had been planning on speccing out of sv soon.

I… can’t really pull any smaller, I just can’t seem to handle the most basic functions of my class. I followed another hunter in my guild on one of their solo runs and nothing they did looked complicated or different from what I have been trying, and it seems I’m the only hunter in the guild who struggles with these kinds of things. Self esteem at an all time low but it’s taking forever to try and level another char to pretend to be relevant with.

to be honest I also haven’t tried it, but I have zero MC gear and don’t want to spend gold on invisi pots, for such a troublesome, nerve-wrecking attempt. i’m sure if I tried it, I could probably clear it just fine, but I make good money doing EPL rounds for thorium and herbs.

Just keep trying, you have the gear and have watched videos you just need to apply the knowledge. It will eventually click and you’ll be doing it easy. I

I’m on a pvp server so I try to avoid too much open world farming, seems to be a group of alliance out for blood around every corner. People in my guild are running around with epic mounts and a couple hundred gold to spare / best consumables and the whole 9 yards, I’m trying to figure out where my repair bill is going to come from, epic mount isn’t even on the table, which makes my ore hunting more difficult.

Maybe it’s childish but, I feel the need to be good at something, and as a hunter it won’t be DPS, it’s not farming gold, with no honor system or bgs it’s not pvp, it’s just kind of killing me.

I’ll try respeccing for imp fd and see if that goes anywhere, strongly considering just deleting/benching my hunter though, if it’s bad now I’m probably going to be miserable later on

Improved Feign Death is mandatory to make dm:n tribute farming viable. I get maybe 1 resist on king or cho rush out of every 10 runs and it’s recoverable about 50% of the time. Out of 130ish runs I’ve had regular mobs resist maybe 5 or 6 times total.

Don’t try killing the bugs in the room before the patting guard. Sacrifice your pet and fd skip around the corner. It’s possible to not use an invis pot but it’s so risky it’s better to just use one at the bottom of ramp to get up towards inner door.

Keep watching videos after you get it down a few times at your gear level you will be downing king in 15min per run!

is this doable in full prebis but no MC gear?

Most definitely. Gear only helps with killing the king faster.

People are doing this with a mix of leveling greens and a few prebis pieces, I’m just truly terrible, with my gear this should be a joke. Gear can’t do it all though

Is there a specific tribute run video guide you personally recommend? I’ve seen a couple, but they’re from private servers and nonconvincing.

afk in undercity

I don’t know just do a YouTube search there seems like there are a lot from classic. The only thing that really seems different from private servers is the method of killing the king. You have to ping him and cho rush between you down in the arena using pillars to los cho’s ranged attacks and your pet on passive up by the “ghosts” on the upper tier of the arena area.

If Cho is the shaman or priest variant focus on just draining all his mana first. Aside from that it’s just a matter of whittling king Gordok down over the course of 5-7min at my gear levels. Which is just a mix of pre raid blues maybe half bis the other half just whatever I could get off the AH or stumbled upon.

Another cool thing I’ve discovered is those ghosts are fantastic for leveling weapon skill before they become friendly!
