Even though I have the level 60 boost that I got by resubbing (been away ever since early BfA), I’ve decided to do try some Shadowlands storylines before jumping into DF per se…
I can truly say that Oribos is the worst expansion hub ever (so far because I didn’t try DF’s).
I wonder what was in the dev’s minds when they approved the design. It’s small but somehow it manages to be so annoying to navigate )which I presume it gets better with flying?). You don’t have a clear visual cue of what’s inside and outside there. Everything looks way too ‘one note’ for a theme.
I wonder where Oribos stands with an expansion hub tier list for everyone, because I can’t honestly remember any of the previous’ hubs being so bad considering both usability and flavor.

Shadowlands was annoying period.
The gates had gating, it was metric chasing madness.
The time it took to get from Oribos to the various areas was so dumb, just expecting us to sit there and watch the swirlies for no other reason than to pad metrics.
Don’t miss it.

Every good capitol needs an airport!
too bad they spent all their budget on the airport part.

Did they ever fix the signs over the bank and the transmog/barber that were switched? Cog over the bank, scales over the barber

Oribos took some getting used to, especially with the symbols over doorways and how the upstairs and downstairs shifted when travelling from one to another. It had other downsides like:
- Porting in from elsewhere then having to go upstairs to get to the flightmaster.
- Soulless (No pun intended) atmosphere with no fun and interesting shops.
I liked some of the zones in SL, but Oribos was just dull and sterile. Like they had just quickly slapped it together.
Lol, nope.

“People like being in airports, right?”

It was for “immersion”, an excuse I really hate for a lot of things.
Each afterlife is supposed to be a separate entity therefore were separated.
But anyone could have told them it was unfun

At least airports are like shopping malls nowadays and you can find cool things to entertain yourself

I hated it. I’m a big fan of patterns and repetition when it comes to world building and architecture. But they botched it heavily. Zoning in doesn’t even center you. The patterns were so small and simple that the cobble of SW was more interesting. There were so many points where things should have lined up but just didn’t. Then due to the simplicity of the city those issues were very apparent.

why in the world would you do that to yourself

People complained about Zuldazar’s layout and praised Boralus’ simplistic central hub - so you got a simplistic hub.

They figured everyone would afk in their covenant halls instead, obviously.

No flight, no MOUNT in parts… what could go wrong?

I hated all disconnected zones, the long flight plaths, the blinding white screen jumping into the Maw etc.

I love a good airport, but Oribos was less like Singapore or JFK and more like Saskatoon International.

Undercity is a circle people loved. Oribos is a circle people hate. I’ve never had trouble finding what I need, everything is put in a very explained location save for pvp vendors.
Also after Zuldazar for years I may just be biased from being tossed a bone of convenience.
