Reading through how to deal with a mob in a dungeon, two different guides says “it needs to be kicked”. Well if you search the web of course ‘kicked’ and dungeon will give you 20 million hits on being kicked from a dungeon group. So what is ‘kicked’ in this context?
Yes originally a Rogue’s Kick was (one of?) the only interrupt so often all interrupt mechanics just get called kicks. It’s like how all Bloodlust-esque mechanics get called Bloodlust even if it’s Heroism, Time Warp, or Primal Rage.
Others have already said it, but it’s faster to say “kick” than it is to say “interrupt” and sometimes you need that extra second. Rogues had the only interrupt back in the day so it just evolved into “kick” for every class.
Same with defensives. You’ll hear “Wall” a lot when referring to any defensive that provides a damage reduction. That stems from Warrior’s “Shield Wall” since they were the only tanks back in the day.
Same with multi-target damage. It’s easier to call it “AOE” which stems from describing an ability’s Area of Effect (AOE). How wide the range of the ability is, if it hits multiple targets, etc.
Waste of time. Some Druids are liars by nature. They got 20 lines to talk way their out of not tranquilizing a bear in HOA. Even huntards know to do this. Its like one of the few reasons people like a hunter in HOA lol.
