What the blue post was in truth

Continuing the discussion from [Classic] The unacceptable state of Classic servers:

So put as plainly as possible, we will not increase capacity any more without inviting additional and likely cascading failures to the service unless we changed our vision of classic to include cross realm functionality including shards. At present, the best and easiest way to resolve this issue for the impacted realms, is for people to leave the realm via free transfers. There’s no technology solution to this outside of what we are using in retail. There is no hardware solution to this that we budgeted for. This situation will not improve when Wrath of the Lich King Classic launches on September 26th, it will only get worse…. I will make sure of it because we don’t want mega servers anymore.

So then give us cross realm functionality. Heck, that would solve a lot more issues than just queue times while I’m sure it would also create some issue; Blizzard has managed to fix the issues it creates in retail so surely they can do it here too.

There is no choice to be made here. They should re-structure the servers using the same approach of retail servers:

Faerlina would be the “Realm group”, and they would subdivide the realm into smaller realms, all connected.

This would allow these servers to grow up indefinitely and it would scale as needed.
