What TBC class has the most complex/skill-based rotation?

Interested in figuring it out, would like to master a class instead of spamming 1 button 24/7.

Probably marksmen hunters, I think they had to do a certain amount of steady shots, auto shots, aimed shots, multi shots.I don’t think any rotation is complex in tbc to be fair, but as far as I can recall marksmen seemed like one of the more “complex” rotational dps specs for PvE.

However, I think survival took a leap forward than MM later on during TBC and had more throughput for whatever reason.I didn’t play hunter back then, but those are my vague memories of what I think is it.

I recall “Steady Shot weaving” being a thing, though I didn’t play a hunter at the time so someone who did will have to take over explaining that.

These were the days when your auto-attack didn’t continue while channeling abilities like Steady Shot or Slam, so you had to pay much closer attention to your timing.

My bet would be a feral dps druid with wolf’shead helm (which yes is still bis in tbc)

Ret can also potentially get complicated… BUT only with BOTH SEAL TWISTING, AND HIGH HASTE VALUES causing your rotation to start running into itself. In the absence of one of those things the rotation is fairly simple, and in the absence of both of those things its arguably the single most brain damaged/simplistic dps spec in the game.

For a more legitimate spec (as in one not exploiting an item, or a broken mechanic),
Affliction Warlocks are going to be pretty button intensive and good early on but they also don’t keep pace with destro builds which will surpass them quickly.

Feral DPS, almost everything else is simple and easy in comparison.

A marksman hunter should be gkicked immediately. BM hunter is where it’s at and they are a 1 button class. Enhance shaman is the most complex. Shields, SS, shocks, totem twisting, etc

Marksman Hunters are always behind in PvE for TBC.
If topping meters is your thing, go BM till SWP.
Then 1 hunter can go Survival. Reason for that is Expose Weakness. Adds 25% of the Hunter’s Agility as Attack Power to the raid.

Who needs a complex rotation? Bind your hunter macro or Shadowbolt to mouse-wheel and top the meters bro.

That’s currently my most frustrating issue with hance.
Swapping between upto 4 utility totems per fight.
and also totem twising magma and nova totem.
Rocking 3 ranks of two different Shocks.
Still maintaining everything on CD.
Imbue weaving.

All of that? still doing 80% of my damage via white swings.

BM hunter for sure, 1 sv hunter for raid for expose.

the question was which has the most complex rotation, thank you for proving I am right lol… And this guy saying BM hunter lol…

It’s hard to say which has the most complex…out of the 2 DPS specs, I think Warlock will be more complex than Hunter, there are niche times when you have to choose to be a debuff curser versus getting to keep big boy Doom damage up, Hunter’s are just 1 buttoning the whole time.

I am going to say Warlock as the most complex of the DPS specs .

I cant believe no one has mentioned shadow priests.

Spriests have to keep up vamp embrace, vamp touch, sw pain. Use mind blast, sw death, on cooldown with mind flay as filler.
They also have inner focus/devouring plague, shadowfiend, as cooldown.

Definitely the most fun rotation around in tbc.

Retribution Paladin with Seal Twisting… by far.

Normal DPS Rotation rivals any other class: Judgement, Crusader Strike, Exorcism Hammer of Wrath (has a cast time so cant swing clip) Rotation

On top of this positioning for consecration is mandatory, meaning pre-emptive play accounting for position ahead of time to maximise up-time; throughout every encounter.

On top of this Seal Twisting - swapping betwen 2 seals on every melee swing to take advantage of 2 seals on each swing; meaning consistant awareness of your auto hit timers to maximise output.

The only class which rivals Retribution it would be a Marksman hunter due to awareness of shot timers and pet management, however all a Marksman Hunter has to do is perform their normal rotation around the timer, without any of the other considerations…

all other classes for the most part are hit buttons as they light up, and refresh timers when they run out (debuffs)

Steady shot was originally an ability an ability added to fill the gap between aimed shot and multishot. A rotation might be thus

Auto shot > aimed shot > auto shot > multishot > auto shot > steady shot > auto shot and repeat.

To me the intended rotation is much more interesting than simply spamming steady shot. We will see if the macro works and how everything plays out.

steady shot becomes a 1 button macro as you mentioned, which beast master hunters literally spam all fight in tbc (and pay no attention to shot timers), thats not an over simplification that is literally what the class does.

high APM doesnt equal high complexity, this little guy has a decent APM but that doesnt mean he has a complex job. :stuck_out_tongue:

Wait, you can use that on non-undead / demons in TBC?

The majority of bosses in tbc are deamons man, non undead/demons was wotlk
