Not to PLAY. What you have Tanking FOR you.
A good monk or pally would be my favorites. A bad pally or dk induce anxiety attacks.
Class is less important than competence when it comes to tanks. People are down on warriors and druids these days, but I’ll take a good one of those over a poorly-played DK or paladin any day.
But DKs are nice because at least you know your battle res is going to be alive…
I dont care what tank they are. It’s a question of are they confident and capable. Some people play tank to skip queues but horrible at it and shouldn’t be on that role.
Right now, anything but a Prot Warrior

prot warr are fine. They maybe slightly worst that other tanks atm but they are in no way unplayable
Noted.
Just remember cross faction play is coming.
A good tank.
They know the route, if they aren’t confident then they communicate well, know their rotation.
From a healer perspective, when played perfectly for me it’d be
- BDK
- Pally
- Tie between BM and Bear
- Prot warr
- VDH (I don’t mind them just inexperienced healing them)
A large floofy tank like a bear tank for that safe/happy/comfortable experience
you dont heal them lol. A competent VDH will never need healing.
I’d plop them up with the BDKs and pallies then.
I think the biggest annoyance people have w/ VDH is they’re so mobile that people are consistently chasing after them. But tbh w/ their tier right now they generate so much soul that they can heal themselves so much that you only need to top them up once in a while or when they’re kiting and can’t hit any mobs
Any as long as they dont die and keep things from hitting me in the face.
Protection Paladin. Even if they’re not great, they’ll probably do a little bit of mitigation and they won’t die in one hit. As a dps, I like them because they don’t move as much as other tanks.
I would say BDK but healing a bad BDK is very stressful. Though, I like Gorefiend’s Grasp.
I prefer Prot Warrior thematically.
Prot Warriors are nowhere near “fine”. Sure everything is playable, but they are a distant 6th out of 6 and really need to be buffed in line with the other tanks
as an rdruid:
bdk best to heal. the run i ran with I could just ignore him and do dmg
least favorite is warrior
The one that I know.
The one that I had to pug.
As long as they know how to mitigate and keep aggro, I’m comfy with any tank. I myself, am a prot warr, and I’m not too shabby. Ignore Pain > Shield Block > Shield Wall (Legendary) > Last Stand.
I usually have problems though keeping aggro, but I can soak damage pretty well.
