you can buy la seniorita’s green sauce by the jug if you ask them

Now this is an important thread I can get behind. Lowkey trolling of all the outrage threads. I like it.

I’ve never had a store bought salsa that was even a fraction as good as fresh made.

Its just not a product that translates well into being mass produced.

I don’t like salsa verde myself, but my wife likes the one made by Herdez as far as store bought ones go.

I much prefer home-made Salsa to store-bought.

A couple nice big garden tomatoes, diced into little chunks. Two large onions diced, some cilantro chopped finely with a couple of diced jalapeno’s mixed in in with some tomato paste, crushed black pepper and lemon juice. Mixed thoroughly and let sit for at least an hour to let everything meld together.

Also really good to add in a couple of avocados to make a chunky spicy guacamole.

Homemade is the best and easy to do. If you don’t have the time then find a local carniceria or Mexican market as they usually have fresh on hand.

Fresh made ones from the deli can be pretty good depending on the store.

I forget the store, but there was one I had that blew every single salsa I’ve tried before it out of the water, homemade, at the restaurants, etc, all of it.

Unfortunately i do not live in that city anymore.

Are we talking about something like Pace Picante sauce or some other brand that comes in a glass jar or the kind you get in the deli section of a super market?

There’s not deli fresh versions by me. Maybe that’s a west coast thing?

Best we get is a “fresher” version in our produce section that has to be refrigerated. But its still bland and rather gross imo.

Honestly just find a simple recipe and buy enough ingredients to make a decent amount.

You can make a really tasty salsa with just 3-4 ingredients and it’ll taste 1000 times better than anything you’ll buy pre-made.

Onions, jalapeños, limes, cilantro, and tomatillos (small green tomatoes).
Literally all you need and you might already have some of that in your fridge.

I also have an insane chili recipe for anyone who wants it

There’s a food truck here that makes street tacos the green sauce they make is amazing i wish i knew how they made it :frowning:

Casa Sanchez.
If I HAVE to go for a larger brand, I prefer La Victoria.

I only use old el paso but it’s red and gluten free

That would be the same.

Thanks all. Will make homemade. Didnt realize it was so simple

Never cooked with tomatillos before. Should be fun
