Enhancement Shaman.
holy paladin, specifically holy powers relevancy
affliction deserves an entire rework, imo turn it into a blood/bone based shadow caster, still emphasizing dots but at least open up the utility fantasy so demo =/=destro=/=afflic
I think frost mage needs some work as well, learn from spellslinger, shuffle around how icicles work (are they falling off your body?)
Frost dk is probably the most deserving melee, Iād rather it see a rework before other melee specs get things it could have gotten.
Iād like to see enhance improved with their fantasy. I feel like they fall short with some things, like having no cross element interaction, you just cycle through different elements based on procs/availability but thereās no variation if you go from frost to fire or lightning to frost. Instead its just follow the tier of individual spell output with no care for what you were previously doing to the target.
Havoc and outlaw are both miserable to play. For opposite reasons too lol.
One has too much going on. The other is beyond boring and too few buttons and slow rotation.
See, thatās one of the reasons I like it. Iāve always been attracted to the Warrior Mage concept, someone who both casts spells and does damage by whacking you upside the head.
I do feel itās a little skewed too much to the spell side of things, and would like to see maybe a couple more physical damage buttons, but other than that quibble, and maybe the button bloat of it (My enh shaman is the only spec that has a 4th action bar added), itās fine the way it is. Maybe add 2h weapons again.
You donāt enjoy relying on ace procs which can sabotage your performance if the stars not aligning?
Demon hunter havoc.
I donāt mind VDH in its current format. Itās not strong. But not horrible designed either.
Havoc is a dumpster on fire, rolling down the side of a mountain, aiming for a lava flow to go die in.
Funny enough, that doesnāt bother me lol. Its the mashing of the two button builder and spender and going /afk until proc hah.
If there was more to do during downtime, I wouldnāt care as much.
Iāve been working on leveling every class & spec to 80 lately⦠and from what I have experienced so farā¦
Brewmaster Monk
they need to just roll it back to how it used to be before Dragonflight⦠current brewmaster is overly complicated and too heavily reliant on Spinning Crane Kick⦠you used to never see brewmasters use that skill more than a few times in any fightā¦
Affliction Warlock
they REALLY REALLY need better options for spreading their DoTs in AoE⦠what few AoE DoT skills they do have all have ridiculously long CDs for what they are and/or cost an absurd amount of soul shards⦠which FYI Affliction was supposed to be the least reliant on soul shardsā¦
Evoker - ALL SPECS
make up your mind on if they are ranged or melee⦠if melee, emphasize the usage of their melee skills⦠if ranged, give them some actual usable ability range⦠Especially Preservation Evoker⦠OMG⦠even Mistweaver & Holy Paladin have longer ranges on their heals than Preservation does and they are Melee healersā¦
A few minor changes I would make to various classes:
Druid: add dual wielding⦠seriously why is this still not a thing?
Paladin: add a Titanās Grip like feature that lets them wield a 2h weapon in one hand, no dual wielding though, offhand should remain Shield or Offhand Item⦠change Shield of Righteousness to also work with Offhand itemsā¦
controversial take
Death Knight: I still even after almost 15 years believe they should have kept Frost as the Tank specā¦
Ret.
I donāt like holy power. I think it was a lazy way to add ācomplexityā to ret paladins back when they added it. I wanna say in WoD? Whenever. I think itās not good. Would prefer a different design.
I will echo most of the others. Brewmaster and Affliction.
Brewmaster usually ends up being the high DPS tank. But, they can seem to get stagger to work as good as other mitigation. Then it ends up in this spot where it has a DPS rotation that is dethatched from a lot of its defensive kit. The spec has a button salad and a lot of it is just to do DPS. And the stagger mechanic is great for big physical hits. But a lot of the damage from content is a lot of average hits, which end up just chewing through them. The spec has a lot of potential, but it just feels like a bunch of ideas that they cant get to work.
Affliction is the other one. It just feels garbage to play with Malefic Rapture. The damage over time spells tickle and you dont have control over your shard generation, so it is these mini burst windows of MR Spam. Then lining up your burst, to stack a bunch of DoTs on a target. Extend them. Then burn your small pool of shards on malefic rapture during that window and hope your shard generation is good enough to keep casting.
I could be in the minority or wrong here, but malefic rapture is just not a fun button to press. And for a spec based around Dots, they largely just end up being a maintenance debuff so your MR hits hard. And that feels pretty garbage.
Paladin with Combo Points was a huge no for me back in the day. Blizzard is creatively bankrupt, now you have Balance Druid with some kind of rage bar, shaman with some kind of rage bar, etcā¦
This might seem like a given, but Iād say Augmentation.
I loved the idea of a support spec being added, but they just continually nerfed it over and over again and continued to remove things from it. It might still work okay, but itās clear to me they are struggling to keep it from being too strong.
And because of all the tuning sometimes itās just better to play the other spec. Makes me question what the point was to begin with?
Idk maybe Iām just crazy, but I was super excited when Aug was announced and Iām disappointed how it turned out after a few patches.
I think the problem with Aug will always be that its support first. You can have a support role, but it should be from a DPS spec. Shaman has this feature, Warlock has this feature.
Make it one side of the DPS tree. Thats the best way to implement Support imo.
Blood DK needs a redo but I donāt know a good way to go about it. Our niche of self healing is now spread around and even if we are slightly better at it, we still retain the MASSIVE DISADVANTAGES of the spec that the other tanks donāt have to deal with while they retain supreme superiority in other ways.
We arenāt even the best mass grippers since DHs can do it with a sigil with a lower CD and we arenāt the best at dealing with casters since prot paladins are absolute silence kings. We have nowhere near the party utility of a paladin and weāre bottom tier at damage.
As someone who plays all the tanks, I donāt think DK is just a helpless fish out of water, but it feels like I always have to work harder to do what all the other tanks just do on their own and there is no payout to being great at the spec. I donāt even have the option in content I grossly outgear to transfer my strongest niche of ābest self healsā healing to OTHER people like a paladin can. If the paladin doesnāt need their own self heals they can just pop it on an ally instead while bringing the litany of blessings.
I absolutely get paladins are due for the most omega slam by the eventual nerf hammer, but currently playing the DK feels like Iām just objectively screwing over any party Iām with because Iām not playing my pally instead. The pally is just so god tier head and shoulders above the rest but it isnāt like the DK feels greater than other tanks. Warriors and bears feel WAY more beefy and druids especially I feel I have as much control of my life. Monks and DHs have mobility my DK can only DREAM of and do solidly more DPS relative to their content.
The inherent problem with the self healing/sustain tank is it CANāT be too great because that literally breaks the game in fundamental ways. Same reason why Augvokers will either be downright mandatory or utterly useless because either their augmenting prowess will either be a net positive over a DPS or the DPS will just be better. There isnāt any middle ground. That doesnāt mean the content one does is passable or failable solely on that singular data point, but it still exists.
PREACH!
What a lot of people that donāt understand is the gameplay. Iāve always heard āgit goodā or āMR made Aff viableā talking about Aff. We are in a state of terrible shard economy for 1 button to line up CDās of DoTs for MR windows to spam until you have to funnel more shards.
If only Blizzard managed to fix DoT balancing and allow a better option to instant AoE. Seed spam was a 50/50 for most people but I can guarantee you thereās many ways to make DoTs and instant damaging abilities more accessible. If we could have Vile Taint less of a CD to manage agony spreads and incorporate Corruption/Wither and just either remove Seed or allow Seed to be reverted back to doing damage.
Nightfall is the only fun part of the spec and always has been, thereās many ways to double down on this gameplay than Rapture gameplay. If there was a way in the talents to double down Nightfall gameplay and make it transformative to where you can AoE Drain or extra functionalities of DoT spread for funnel it would 100% make the spec more engaging.
DPS DKs. Fix them and then donāt tinker with them constantly. Fix them and then leave them alone.
Balance druid could use a rework also.
This is entirely just because I donāt like Havoc Demon Hunters so⦠if I had to give one spec, Iād say them. Otherwiseā¦
Tweak the numbers sure, but actual reworks? On the basis that I donāt like 'em as they are, Havoc is the only one that I donāt actually play. Mind you this would be a rather silly reason to do it.
Unholy DK needs a rework to be ranged so people can stop asking for Necromancers.
Everything or anything OTHER than what Im currently playing lol. Im happy with my specs.
Guardian Druid
Demo Lock
BM Hunter
Blood
Unholy
Brewmaster, Outlaw & Affliction definately good picks.
I also agree with this⦠however, they gave Shadow like 2 reworks in DF, and each time, they somehow managed to make it worse⦠so as clunky as Shadow is now, I kinda just wanna cut my loses before they rework it into unplayability.
