I wanna make sure I’m playing the one they aren’t, cuz I’m edgey like that.

Play Fire for SL, you’ll be the most edgy.
Currently Arcane. In Shadowlands maybe Fire. Hard to tell so soon, as there are stillt balancing changes going on.
I could just say Frost will be the top spec, and there is evidence to support this, however the game is still being balanced. Basically, we don’t know yet. We’ll know “soon” though.
Thanx all, I’ll stick with Fire, like I always have. There’s just something about a Hot Streak that gives me a warm glow
To be the edgiest, never change your spec no matter what happens. I was so edgy playing Frost in mythic Nya and literally everyone saying “why aren’t you Fire?” every single day <3 yaaaaaasssss
Arcane will always be the “I’m not meta, I’m just edgy” mage spec. Even when it is borderline meta anyway
I think frost is currently performing the best of the 3 mage specs.
But frost was still highly regarded as the other viable mage spec and there were a lot of mythic players going for frost.
Now, had you played arcane…
I feel like something that ruins the game is this perception of what’s “the best right now”. I mean, there’s data that can back up those claims in some cases, but I play the game based on what I want to play. Not because some guide tells me whats the best. People will look at you weird for being in X instance with Y spec but I don’t care. My damage will do the talking.
Then again I’m more casual than anything so I can’t really say much about this. Spoken like a true casual I guess.
Fire’s weak af rn coz they screwed around with mastery, so if u wanna be edgy go fire.
My brand of edginess is being Frost since I started WoW, in 5.0. Arcane was THE spec in 5.4, but I finished the tier as Frost as well
But I often do go Arcane for world PvE because I find it better for some reason.
It’s also funny how (in this expansion) you could always get the “why aren’t you Fire though” comments when you could so easily pulverize Fire (as Frost) on single target encounters without much effort (if any). A lot of it is a mob mentality, people often gravitate towards the spec that they think is most popular because they think it’ll give them the best results. The point they forget is ‘if you master it’, because you can screw up, with any spec in the game. Some are more forgiving than others but it’s always possible. Fire isn’t even that forgiving if you mess up.
The other thing I don’t get is people who are not even pushing for world #1s or top 10 or anything, like as casual as myself, who are playing THE meta spec and absolutely having a horrible time and not enjoying themselves at all. I just can’t wrap my head around it, lol. Why put yourself through all that misery.
Omg stop using the word edgy so annoying. Stop trying to make that word popular. Theres only a certain kind of idiot that says edgy
Will you agree to stop saying “omg”? It’s also annoying and silly
“Like Omigod!”
I think arcane has an incredibly robust tool kit in comparison to fire or frost. This is especially true in PvP. I believe it outperforms frost in pure single target PvE situations in shadowlands. Frost pulls ahead in cleave combat; heavy AoE, but you can spec arcane to be competitive here.
Fire feels good right now in pre-patch because folks still have Blaster Master, Hyperthread bracers, and Lucid Dreams to keep the rotation and damage flowing. I can promise you on beta, it feels slow. This , along with the changes to mastery scaling and how you spread ignite makes fire feel very weak in comparison.
Arcane feels very good, even during pre-patch in PvP. You have a ranged, instant cast, spam-able slow, an AoE root, an AoE incap, and a spam-able single target incap. You can spec very defensively between temporal, netherwind, and cloak. You can take talents that make you effective at taking bases in battlegrounds. There is a lot of variety, you have just to have prioritize positioning and fake casting.
If you aren’t playing Arcane right now you’re insane anyway.
I guess I’m insane. I only play Fire. And I’m not understanding why people are saying “fire sucks now.” I feel like my damage is unchanged.
Supposedly, fire will suffer in Shadowlands because the things that propped it up (Hyperthread Bracers, corruptions, and Azerite traits) will all be gone. Also, secondary stat scaling is changed making points put into a secondary stat after 25% less valuable. Fire will be fine once the covenant soulbinds and legendary effects become available at level 60, but it might not be as good as frost or arcane until a later patch.
I already know this, I’m saying current content as of right now when I log in. Shadowlands isn’t out yet so everything on ptr is purely speculation on what will or will not be in final product. When I get on WoW right now, there is no difference on what I could do before the prepatch. Nothing’s changed so how does fire suck now? Maybe it sucks at lower levels but it always has sucked for lower levels.
