What spec/addons

Shaman was my main from part of BC thru MoP. I have been elemental most of my career, but like both DPS specs, and wouldn’t mind healing. What spec is most engaging and dynamic to play? My main right now is a hunter I play mostly as BM and sometimes as Surv, so that’s where I’m coming from right now.

Oh, and what addon(s) are best for healing as a shaman?

if your plan is to ,m+,raid there is only one spec because of how bad the meta is and thats elemental.

if you play enhancement sure you can run your own keys but if you try to get in to a m+ group they WILL ask you if your ele and deny you if you arnt.

this is how bad retail wow has become.

Good to know, while simultaneously 100% wack

The dude who replied is a common (angry at the world?) troll who runs all specs into the ground in every thread he can.

That being said, Ele is pretty engaging with IF build or at least I think. Old enhancement build (lightning shield/wind fury and not primal primer) is pretty fun in its own way at the high end.

As far as healing addons, use whichever you’re comfortable with. When I off heal I just resize and move the default UI raid frames.

Enhance spec may as well not even exist in the game right now. The community perception around it is so bad at the moment you’ll instantly get denied from the majority of M+ groups as well as be kicked from a lot of raid groups if they see you’re playing enhance.

Reasons its regarded as bad… Pretty terrible mobility, not much of any aoe capability (almost a 100% single target spec), and pure single target boss fights are non-existent at the moment. Its single target damage actually isn’t that bad at all, but that’s about all it does. Factor in that the utility it can bring with wind rush totem can be brought by an Ele or Resto sham which are far more useful specs.

Actually enhance is regarded as so bad right now that people don’t even entertain the possibility of it existing anymore and typically don’t even ask if you’re Ele or Enhance when you app to mythic+ groups because they just 100% assume you’re ele.

If all you do is mostly casual content like LFR / Normal raids / Entry level Heroic raiding, then play whatever spec you find fun though, even if that is enhance. (because at that level of play, it really makes no difference what spec you play and you can stomp someones damage output regardless of your spec if you’re a better player).

My raid group brings an enhance to our heroic clears and mythic progression. shrug

Does it need help? Sure. But if you aren’t trying to be in a top of the line guild, you can still play it.

Thank you, I really love elemental, with the height of that love during BC heroic grinding for justice/badges what have you at the time. Back then, only pallies had the AoE threat to keep mobs vs. me.

Is an elemental build (storm/primal) viable/good? I have really liked those talents since they were first introduced.

Thanks. That’s sad to hear. I am definitely into M+(how I gear this hunter-I’m OP). So aside from WQ and lfr, that’s likely where I’d land. I also used to like pvp as both dps specs, and enhance used to be a fun, bursty ride there.

I use a weak aura for earth shield helps me keep it up 100% of the time , and tell me when adding to show when my big cds are off cd helps a lot in pvp let’s me focus and still keep track of cds
