SoM = harder boss mechanics. SoD = class changes through runes. Of course there’s more going on, but these are the big points. What should the next season be?
I’m curious if we’ll ever see the cut content like player housing, class combinations like the original dwarf mage, additional races like ogre, or allied races like choosing your clan/kingdom from the dwarf race, orc clans, undead highelf, etc. Some are better for a big seasonal hook than others.
Another big game changing one was hero classes. Hero classes were first imagined differently though then when we got in wrath. Think back of the rumored idea of leveling a paladin to become a death knight in wrath.
“A hero class is a character class derived from the base classes, but with exclusive perks. The concept of a hero class is derived from the “heroes” in Warcraft III.”
The term “hero class” is commonly misunderstood to mean that the class is more powerful than other classes. The term instead signifies a unique playstyle and experience, as well as denoting a class of heroes which start at an already “heroic” or “veteran” level, with an experience and gear to match.
All the hero units of Warcraft III were originally supposed to become hero classes in World of Warcraft. Hero classes were still listed in 2005 on the “Under Development” page of the original website. When a character hit level 40, it could start specializing in skills to become the same kind of hero. However, as Blizzard developed talent trees, they dropped the idea as they believed that the trees would provide enough customization. For example, a night elven warrior could specialize into wielding two one-handed weapons and essentially be a demon hunter, while a dwarven warrior could fulfill the fantasy of a mountain king, or an undead warrior could become a death knight.
Other potential heroes: Dark Ranger, Runemaster, Necromancer, Tinker, Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Warden, Spellblade/Battlemage, Spellbreaker, Shadowhunter and more
It would double down on the faction/race/class identity. Only Nightelf warrior or rogues can become a warden for example.
It seems like a complex idea, but very interesting and maybe more preferable than how we got hero classes later.
Would you want to see them try it or maybe something else entirely?
