What should I kick and what should I let cast?

I’m trying to figure out what spells I should let go, and which I should always be kicking/interrupting/stunning to maximize my kill potential against healers, generally speaking.

As WW, we have sweep, RoP, spear hand strike, and paralysis to kick and interrupt.

  • MWMonk: unsure between soothing mist, enveloping mist or essense font I should be prioritizing
  • Hpal: just holy light?
  • Disc Priest: just penance? or do I interrupt holy then kick shadowmend?
  • RDruid: ???
  • RShaman: ???

additionally:

  • Lock: ofc chaos bolt, but what about Cataclysm, Fear, Immolate?
  • Spriest: ???
  • FireMage: Greater only?
  • FrostMage: Ray of Frost?
  • EleShaman: stormbreaker?

thanks!

unfortunately I dont think you’re going to get an accurate answer as it’s way too situational to answer without any context.

its all 1 school so if you are just trying to stop healing to get more pressure any of them will do. Soothing mist is what they are casting most of the time though

yes unless they are running rep. They are most likely running with a rogue and mage so id suggest saving kick for mage unless you are going to score a kill/big defensives by stopping heals

most of the time its better to just kick shadowmend

kick regrowth if they cast it if they are playing defensive and never cloning. If they are playing offensive with clone save kick for that.

they only have 1 healing school so if you want to shut down healing kick when they are going for that. dont kick their damaging spells unless for some reason that will kill someone (although in that situation ur partner is prolly gonna die either way)

really on focus on chaos bolt and fear. Kick chaos bolt if they are going for pressure and kick fear if they are trying to stop you during ur burst or ur “go”
this one is pretty situational though

kick MD if you are playing with something that has magic CC or magic defensives such as: fear, poly, block, bubble, hoj. They will use MD to get their healer out of CC or to get your partner out of their defensive. depends on ur team tho
other than that if you have nothing else to kick in the arena shut down their vampiric touch (VT) casts

you definitely dont want a greater going off most of the time, but if ur partner is full HP and you think he is just trying to bait ur kick so he can free poly ur healer save it for that. Probably best to incap the greater then kick poly if he tries to go for that. If you have to kick the greater let your healer know you can not stop the poly before hand as you kick.

if they are in the middle of a go this can be helpful but most of the time just stop the polys

kick lightning lasso if it isnt on yourself. other than that unless the ele just has insane pressure its better to save kick for the other target or the healer.

If anyone has greater insight into any of these please feel free to correct me

For Discipline, If Rapture is up kick penance so they can’t keep spamming huge shields. Maybe kick SMend inside their dome?

For Shadow, VT. If I can’t dot I’m useless. Watch out for bait Mass Dispels. Obviously prioritize MD is they’re actually trying to cleanse a partner in CC.

Depending on the moment of the fight, your kick priorities change. If you’re going for a kill on a low hp warlock you kick fears, for example. If you’re in voice comms you can even sequence interrupts between partners “I’ll kick penance, you kick shadowmend.” “Dont kick poly, I can Premonition it” - a priest

Just going off the top of my head.

thank you for this!

The answer is always going to be what generates the most pressure.

MC is a good spell with risk vs reward in mind.

While its spammable CC; On paper the priest is CCing himself as well but MC on CDs or on the healer when all interrupts/DRs are used MC can net the most pressure or a kill or at least let other stuff come off CD.

Same with Lasso, it can do substantial damage on the kill target while disabling at the same time, but none of that matters if the healer can just heal the target. So a lasso on a healer thats nowhere close to dying is a better option depending the situation

TL:DR kicking blindly doesn’t do anything
