Assuming we get to see her, what should the Moon Goddess look like? Lore tells us that the well turned the Dark Trolls into Night Elves. That says the Elves are Elune’s chosen children among all those on Azeroth, so you’d expect her to have some Night Elf features. Furthermore Cenarius looks Night Elven as so hits children and grandchildren. Is it possible that Elune played a hand the in transformation of the trolls? I think that for Elune to be completely devoid of at least some similar features could cause a lore issue as Cenarius predates the Dark Trolls transformation.
Beyond that I think she should have alabaster skin and long silver hair and a translucent black gown.
I’m partial to a sort of Aessina-like “glowing pillar of pure moonlight that you think you can see elf ears in but is impossible to make out fine details.”
If she actually is a god, whatever she wants really. Maybe she’s looked like everything at one point or another. Troll, Night Elf, Tauren, something that predates them.
I’m of the opinion that not only should we never see Elune, but if we hear the voice of Elune, it should be completely horrifying, yet hauntingly beautiful gibberish to us, only understandable by select people (like Tyrande or the Winter Queen). But if we have to see her, just light. Just a bright light.
The well is the blood of azeorth which is why it turned trolls more human (nelves) because azeorth is a titan. So that has nothing to do with elune, so I dont think elune had a role in that
That was one of my goals. She’s been so hyped up by the ~mysterious~ lore around her, and hyped up by her fans, that I think a clear answer wouldn’t be as fun as a ‘still mostly mysterious’ one. Plus she’s the moon - with themes of blinding brightness or fading invisibility, so not seeing her clearly seems fitting to me.
As she is said to have reshaped the elves, and her biological/mythological child looks like a night elf, I definitely want her to have some night elf features - but she’s also part of other species’ pantheons, so I’d like her to have enough other traits in her appearance that the tauren or trolls don’t feel like they’re bowing before just a night elf.
Besides, one of my favorite lore tidbits (that might have been from the RPG and thus not canon anymore) was Elune’s stated power to use her moonlight to suffuse an area with peace, stopping all fighting until sunrise. So I like the idea of her being made of mostly moonlight.
I played a game called Control recently and the way they did it was have the creatures speak into your mind but, because they don’t actually speak English, they try and translate it into something you’d understand but sometimes it has multiple choice options/choices/bunnies. Like at one point they threaten to kill you when you meet their enemy by saying you should work for them because they have the better health plan.
I actually think it would be kind of dumb if she just a giant nelf woman, she should be like a giant naaru like crystal nelf woman made of light and void together
She, and her priesthood, are the last uniquely Night Elven theme they have left (and even then, they keep trying to pawn her off onto the Horde, through the Mu’sha heresy, and the Lun’alai). She should be something actually representative of the race. No Naaru, no Trolls, no Titans, no anything.
Yeah I agree. She should be there but not totally. Her voice should be the most defining aspect. The lore does say that she gave Cenarius to Malorne to raise because she didn’t have a physical form.
