Was here during Legion in TAE. Missed a few xpacs and now it’s a ghost town. What server has all the wpvp? It’s hard to find it out in the world.
Since warmode they’re all basically the same. A lot of times people are joining groups for sparks and what not so they’ll be sharded. You can do likewise and find people to kill. Or you can kill some lowbies, have a bounty put on you then just sit back and let the Horde come to you.
Their are far more Horde than their are Alliance. Every time I go out questing I rarely ever see any Alliance. It’s become its own drinking game. Drink every time you see an Alliance member.
How sad right? Definitely not the same as it used to be.
Kind of funny that I very rarely ever see any Alliance… I decided to go to the Traders post… sooooo many Alliance. I wonder where they all were hiding all this time. There were so many people there that I didn’t even know how many NPC’s there were because all I saw was this massive throng of people.
All of my friends seem to have left for a smattering of other servers. People who, like me, were on ED since server launch. SL was a nail in the coffin for the wpvp scene that held the server together I feel like.
Dunno Stormrage is pretty lively. More alliance server but we get a lot of horde in warmode
This. Sad what happened but the sharding seems to be pretty bad keeping you from seeing other ED players a lot of the time. The sparks areas are very lit right now, which are great, but we need more reason to wpvp. War mode really killed wpvp in general and then shadowlands destroyed wpvp even more. Its been better this expansion but we really need something to get people out of pve mode.
Taps a finger to his chin as he gazes pensively into the sky.
“Now where have I seen this topic come up before? Was it the last expansion or two expansions ago? Dang! I wish I could remember. Oh well.”
Cheers.
wriggles tongue inquisitively
Hmmm I wonder
Sprays the swig of ale he was trying to savor all over the table in front of him
“Titans have mercy!”
“Is that inquisitiveness or just an uncontrollable spasm? You know… Like when you have to sneeze after a Vulpera walks into the room?”
notices a drop of ale fell onto his pants
his head slowly rises
Dwarf, if only you knew…
Raises the flagon of ale and nods at the Warlock. A grin hides his urge to laugh at the uncontrollable wriggling of its tongue.
“Tae tha bliss o’ not knowin’.”
Sharding is toxic super poop! It’s really really hurt the faction culture on the servers, and I guess in some instances improved them? lol.
I would have rather Blizzard gone the Everquest route, and simply folded servers with low populations and moved them to like-minded other servers; PVP servers folded into other PVP servers, RP into RP, RPPVP into other RPPVP, etc.
I guess they felt retaining the illusion of their playerbase remaining large enough to support all of those servers was mission #1?
Also when did the big Emerald Dream playerbase faction shift occur? I quit in 2016, and I know it didn’t happen by that time. I keep hearing about how a lot of Horde went Alliance and a lot of the good Alliance peeps either went Horde or (the more RP folks) transferred off the server to WrA and MG? I know when I was in The Guard a large number of them had been Horde and at some point switched to Alliance?
I know that when I came back to WoW in October it took about 2 months, after relearning the game, to discover it definitely was not the Emerald Dream I knew from Cata through MoP and into WoD.
Those days… are long gone sadly. Today is so different and people just sit in the safe zones and do pve. No longer do we have big pvp fights in the world. Players have become weak and always expect perfectly balanced fights in the world, and when someone like me ruins their expectations, you get rage whispers.
We really need things like the assaults in BFA to get people out in war mode, the sparks areas are great but no huge rewards for getting out.
The only problem with an assault or some such is that the server is Horde heavy… by alot! I was checking out servers to see what is what. ED actually has a higher pop than Moon Guard and WRA. Someone (and I don’t remember who ) suggested that PvP be template based and not gear score based. Final Fintasy XXIV does this and it works awesomely.
In my opinion their “PvP Guy” at Blizzard cleary doesn’t PvP. If he did, we’d be seeing different PvP. I still want to see a landmass that we can fight over. That would be phat! Especially if done like DAoC where we can have siege engines and guilds can claim keeps.
WPvP lacks an objective. Without a clear objective there is no reason to participate.
Cheers.
Yeah honestly there would have to be a fully fleshed out incentive to wpvp other than just a weekly quest for more wpvp gear.
Hell I’d play a WoW battle royal or something across an entire zone. Who knows if that would ever be a thing.
As far as I know the wpvp scene has died down and everyone has been focused on pve. It was pretty cool at the beginning of the expac though.
