I was snookered by an undead warlock on the old trick where they could remove the gold after you’d already clicked trade. It was a stack of copper ore and I couldn’t afford the listing price on the auction house. Sad days indeed.

i was always cheap and distrustful, so even in my youth i’ve never got tricked in mmo’s. Not even drop+dupe/upgrade scam in lineage2, people still fall for it.
Younger me did their fair share of hoaxing back in the days of Diablo 2, so I was generally pretty aware about being scammed.
Extreme paranoia does have advantages every now and then.

This wasn’t in classic, maybe wrath. I scammed a player who i didn’t like who gave me gold to create a portal when I used to main a mage. I created his portal… after stacking my other portals on top of it first… MUHAHAHA!

I just wanted an enchatment for my twink. I gave this undead my mats and gold he requested then when I gave it to him he logged out. Opened a ticket and the GM got on his account and enchanted my stuff for me lol

I saw someone in Stormwind saying in chat that it you opened trade with him he would give you free gold. Right after that someone else came in chat and said something like “wow he really gave me free gold” I should have known something was up but I went up to him and opened trade. He then told me he would give it to me if I would post in chat that he had given me free gold. At that point I knew he was messing with people but just for the lols I went along with him and said it in trade anyhow. Of course I got no free gold, and after that he quit doing it.
Guild bank alts. Fell for that scam once. Not doing it again.

Nope, never could afford anything beyond enchants and epic mount. Most of the players were trustworthy on my realm I spose.
i had been playing everquest and ffxi for years so i wasnt new to the land of mmos and the types of individuals they drag out of the woodwork, so i cant say i ever got scammed.
we had someone ninja loot an onyxia at one point though, but it was so late in vanilla everyone just laughed at someone being willing to throw away their serverwide reputation for such outdated, garbage loot.

The good ol’ Alt+F4 trick in AV to get people out of the instance for their friends. Only took once to learn that lesson.

On a serious note: I loved the addition of flying and it worked extremely well for TBC and wrath content.
I’m a world pvp guy, so you can probably work out my issue with it.
I sometimes have delirious fantasies of TBC with a whole lot of extra bridges and npc flight points.
Ironically, I welcomed flight when it was announced, and I was thrilled when I get my first flying mount. I just didn’t understand what it would do to pvp in the long term.
