What’s the pvp tier list?

I know warriors are broken, and rogues are powerful, but how do the others classes compare with each other?

Things are not as simple as you think they are.

I’m fine with a complex answer.

Your question isn’t specific enough for a complex answer.

What are you specifically trying to figure out?
Duels,premades?

Paper, rock, scissors

Sadly the above are right. In the respect of Vanilla you have to understand that PvP wasn’t built around arena… it was World, Solo, BGs… it was a team effort or a solo ganking experience. It was maybe getting jumped.
Give me a more pointed question and I will give you thorough answer.

World pvp and bgs.

Druids in WSG are always good, preferably 2 of them and two rogues for flag running.

Arathi basin put two pallys on a flag and let them defend that thing until help arrives, even if that help is on the other side of the map.

Solo in the world then rogue because you can sneak up and hit that guy when they are fighting another mob.

The way to think of pvp in Classic is like so.

Warriors are rock. Rogues are scissors. Hunters, Paladins, Priests, Druids, Mage and Shamans are paper. Warlocks are mushrooms.

Paper beats rock.
Scissors beats paper. Scissors also happens to beat rock, until rock hits 60 and becomes an unstoppable killing machine , and then also beats paper, and would beat scissors, except it can’t find scissors because scissors are invisible.

So scissors beat paper and avoid rock, and that is called balance.

Bgs: Almost every class is not just viable but optimal.
S tier: Healer Priest(two) Mages(two)
A tier: Warrior, Resto Druid(flag carrier only), Ele Shaman, Hunter, Rogue, Warlock, Holy Paladin
B tier: Shadow Priest and Resto Shaman.
Below that Enh, Ret, Prot, Feral, Boomkin are kinda poopy.

Wpvp: Mages, Hunter, Rogue, Lock.

and Shadow Priest and SL Warlocks are the best 1v1 class but people will fun of you for playing an ez spec for babies.

Classic wow was one of the most balanced pvp imo…
There are a few reasons why this is…

  1. All classes have a niche at something.
  2. Engineering and Pots fill weaknesses and gives advantages
  3. Health is lower in comparison to dps. so getting the initiative in battles means more.
  4. Rock, Paper, Scissors… class and specs do well against others and have counters…

I’ll go through a list on what I think for each class in pvp

Warrior: The most gear dependent class is rewarded greatly with the best gear in the game. Warriors are excellent in small group skirmishes, have weaknesses in solo play and large group pvp. Frost mages counter them hard, and paladin also do well against them. Mortal Strike Healing Debuff is a gamechanger utility.

Druid: Underated. Best flag carriers, best pvp Tank, best mobility, and good pvp healer. Druids can pick their battles and run away from any situation. They are excellent Wpvpers and duelers for that reason… they can whittle pretty much any class down to nothing over a long period of time. Best duelers on my server back in the day were paladins and druids… and they couldn’t kill each other lol… like 30 min duels.

Warlock- Vulnerable to being ganged on in group pvp as they have little mobility, but excel at CC, Dots, and burst. Best CC in pvp. They do well Very well against mages. Vulnerable to warriors.

Hunters- In my opinion, if I had to pick, hunters are the best pvp class… and it isn’t because they do the best damage, or best mobility, or cc, or for any other specific reason. Hunters are just consistent, and they can most consistently get the initiative in pvp more often than any other class(Accept maybe a cautious rogue)… and that is a big deal. They aren’t cooldown dependent at all, and are the most effective kiters in the game… and don’t have a true hard counter imo. Not the best duelers.

Shaman- Shaman have arguably the biggest burst in pvp. I remember playing on the prt in vanilla and I most impressed with the ele shaman in pvp over any other class I tried. Shaman are vulnerable to being focused on in pvp… that is their biggest bane. No one leaves you alone because they know if they do, you can harass like no other class… On my priest, shamans were my most hated class to go against… PURGE FROSTSHOCK PURGE FROSTSHOCK…impossible to run away. Eat priests for breakfast.

Mage- THe glass cannons in wow. They are very good, and in the hands of someone very good mages are extremely effective. I always found myself dangling on the edge of a knife in fear from being one shot, but you can’t argue with results… Mages have so many tools to get away from the heat with their mobility and CC. Hard counter warriors, druids, pallys… match-ups with rogues are fairly even, just don’t drink xD… Get countered by Hunters and warlocks.

Rogue- The most OP thing about the Rogue is that they can choose their battles… that is what makes them sooo good. They pick of anyone who is not ready, or in any situation where they have the advantage. For this reason why i think they are 2nd strongest class in pvp, if I had to pick. They also have a arsenal of cooldowns where if they so choose, can solo a target without a chance a lot of the time. When caught in stealth, rogues are caught naked… they struggle in larger group pvp. Hunters vs. Rogues are like Cats and Dogs… a rivalry that has lasted a millennium… hunters have a whole toolkit, JUST to counter rogues…

Paladins- Best pvp healer, and best utility class in pvp as well imo… extremely tanky, and is able to protect his allies with powerful spells. Extremely vulnerable to kiting and your victims escaping. Paladins are also great duelers… they last forever…have like 3 lives…

Priest- Shadow priests are one the best 1v1 classes in dynamic pvp… not so much duels. Do very well against warriors, rogues, and decently against mages and locks. Hard countered by hunters with viper sting and Shaman… Shadow priests fullfill the niche of a more tanky CC caster.
IMO priest are actually the weakest pvp class. As they struggle to more effectively heal than druids and paladins due to how squishy they are. I mained a priest in vanilla… they are really good, but aren’t the best in anything.

The sparkles from Benediction act like a signal flare to the enemy from across the battleground. Everything will want to kill you. Everything. That little construct pet that Goblin tinkers would summon in STV? Yes, that too. It will come for you.

Warriors are amazing. So are Rogues. BUT they need items to reach that level. Rogues when the game started could kill players with a white level 2 dagger equipped, and nothing else. Warriors where gods of the Arena in PvP battlegrounds.

However the version we are playing the classes became balanced. Weapon speed changes, as well as balance patches that increased other classes survival.

The game is pretty balanced but all classes do have a hard counter. One class or spec that absolutely makes the fight a slaughter. Unless you are absolutely amazing, and they are just average.

Here is a video about rogues and the changes that effected them in Vanilla. To give you an idea of why people thought, and still do today that these classes are op.
