If you can’t recall, never got one, or haven’t leveled, - tell me which epic you wish to see everytime you right click a dead mob.
Let’s reminisce and try to get our hype /train chooing, because if not, I’m going to lose my mind with all of this beta speculation.
The only epic I ever saw was the Eye of Flame. You can imagine how hyped I was when I saw purple. That hype quickly faded. Fire mages.
Seen a dazzling longsword drop 10 + years ago in razorfen downs and I lost the roll, that was one of like 3 or 4 vanilla epics ive ever seen, besides the obvious raid loot and pvp stuff, I mean world drops.
Krol Blade from Stratholme during BWL content. Was BiS for SS rogues as I understand. Lost the roll.
Staff of Jordan. It was useless to me. Wall of the Dead dropped in BRD once. That was also useless. Personally I’ll take any boe epic that helps cut that epic mount cost in half. A krol blade would be nice though.
I got the Gut Ripper dagger once, but that was in WOTLK. I don’t know if the drop rate changed over time.
Gut Ripper was absolutely my first purple drop as well, from an elemental in Tanaris. ‘‘Twas a heartstopping moment and I immediately hearthed my Druid and headed to the AH.
Edgemasters Gloves also dropped soon after in ZF but I did not win the role.
I’d like my first BOE epic in Classic to be Warden’s Staff so I can actually equip and benefit indefinitely from it.
I want to see a freezing band while leveling.
While it wasnt a drop for me, an Underworld band dropped for a guildee and he offered it to me. I wore it from level 40ish all the way into Molten core.
I did give my guildee something for it, close to all the gold I had at the time, though I didn’t tell my guildee that. It was less than what they could have gotten on the AH.
Id love to see one of those drop or better yet two.
I was leveling my first character, a tauren warrior, questing in Feralas. Killed a random mob that was close to the main road. Dropped ardent custodian. My guild told me not to, but I ended up selling it to buy my kodo. No regrets.
Edit: Not technically epic, but I did get an orb of deception. Can’t remember where it dropped. I def held on to that fun toy.
Wasn’t in vanilla, but was in EPL way back when (late 07/early 08). A friend and myself were leveling our first alts. I’m on my mage, he’s on his shaman, and we had a random rogue with us. Rogue was having issues killing elite mob by the fountain. We clear the zombies and make our way to the target, barely kill him before stuff starts to respawn. Quickly loot as much as possible before running for the hills. A BoE epic dagger shows up in the roll window. The only one that could make use of it was the rogue, he had a blue and a green, and we both passed. Took almost until the timer ran out to get him to roll on it. He repeatedly went on “about are you sure?” and “it’s purple!”. Finally rolled, equipped immediately, and I threw an unholy on it… I know it wasn’t the BIS enchant, but I had the mats on me and it was , IMO, highly underrated by most. Decade later got a mail with a thank you. Player saw it while clearing out their bank and they were reminded of their first party, first epic, and first big memory of wow.
Long story short: Best epic drop was one we gave to someone just as newblet as we were and they still had it 10 years later.

but not sure when … i think the shield and staff was at least tbc. not sure on kang. probably was tbc also.
I had headmasters charge drop while I was leveling my priest. This was after vanilla (I think Cata) so I’m pretty sure the drop rate wasn’t nearly as bad as it used to be. Still pretty cool!
Lifestone trinket. Got it from a dungeon can’t remember which one. This character still has it equipped
Underworld band. I won it and equipped it. Lasted well into 60.
I got Stonerender Gauntlets from something in Felwood - not the coolest epic but still memorable.
Also found The Hammer of Northern Wind from a troll in Tanaris, haha I found some really odd epics I guess
Classic? I got the weapon skill epic hands.
In wow overall I managed to get the polar bear mount while leveling in wrath when it was bugged to be super small and had fun riding around with it.
Grinding Timbermaw rep on my Warlock, Stockade Pauldrons dropped off a mob.
In Maura Orange again on my Warlock, Wall of the Dead dropped.
Those were both in TBC where I started playing though.
Burning War Axe dropped for me yesterday in STV. That was pretty awesome, got 50g out of it. Can’t say I’ve been too lucky on anything else. I did find a Black Lotus spawn once but I was really drunk and vendored it accidentally LOL.

Hand of Edward the Odd - watching it proc as my Paladin in world PvP and seeing people go “wtf” when I did an instant-cast hearthstone after my bubble expired.
