Just hit the point where i can do LFR and unsure what to que for for S4 since i just hit 70 this week on my first retail character.
Just do the raid that is currently “Awakened”, it has the highest ilvl and will drop tokens to give this seasons tier gear

In the LFR tool, select the dropdown menu to see different raids you can queue for. You should see a special icon for the current “Awakened” raid (currently Vault of the Incarnates). It’ll change weekly in Season 4, but if it has the icon you’re good.
Ok, so it has to be awakened for it to drop the tokens neccessary to buy tier set gear yeah?
Trick question. You won’t get any tier tokens from the raid unless you’re lucky because Blizz decided to nerf their drop rate for some reason (as if M+ didn’t make gearing via raiding obsolete enough) Your 4 set will come from the vault and catalyst
Yep! There’s still gear (and tier sets) in old raids, but it won’t be this seasons ilvl nor are the tier set bonuses compatible. Just stick with Awakened and you’re good.
You’ll also get Bronze Bullion, which can earn 1 per week, and can be exchanged for gear you’re targeting.
One of my guildies got 3 pieces from LFR and Catalyzed the 4th.

I’m exaggerating obviously, but most people are gonna end up getting their tier pieces from vault and catalyst rather than from the bosses that drop them, which isn’t how it should be imo. Blizz needlessly nerfed tier token drop rates in S3, I’m assuming to make M+ players feel less obligated to raid (even though anyone who pugs heroic raids is basically required to farm M+ for gear if they want any chance at getting invited to a decent group from week 2 onwards)
