Hey guys I am currently working on my monk and got to thinking, what do you guys think is more fitting as a race for monk aside from panda obviously?
I know it’s kind of a “boring” choice, but human feels very right when I play it. I always gravitate towards that fantasy in games.
KFM in B&S, monk in FFXIV, mystic in BDO, etc. It always feels like human is perfect for the “martial artist.”
While I’m on a soapbox about class fantasy, I really want some more plain old baggy pants, sandals, and chest wraps.

For me, depends on the name. Race should complement the name. Obviously my choice is supreme.

I play Blood Elf for keys for the racial aoe dispel.
Being able to cleanse AoE bubble in Mists, or shield in NW on the guy before the bridge is pretty brutal.
I also think mog looks great on Blood Elves.

Otherwise small classes look great as monk, vulpera, gnomes, mechagnomes and goblins.
Otherwise thematically monks are brewmasters so Dwarves and Kultirans fit well.
If you want to free exit combat, NE shadowmeld.

But seriously, panda is the real answer. It’s always been.
male brown orcs look really good as monks. It’s one of the few race changes from that toy that I keep sometimes.

When in doubt I always pick Draenei. Heroic presence is always a welcome buff to primary stat and gift of Naru is an excellent built in defensive that can scale well with many other defensives (Such as fortifying brew) It can also be used as an emergency heal with any healing spec to save a tank or something. It’s likely my favorite class ability in the game.

Nothing beats the pandaren monk.
More often than not Monk sets seem to be designed with Pandaren in mind. If you care about monk tmog I would check the races based on that because otherwise there isnt much of a difference.
Monk is loaded with utility by default so that reduces the value of a of races. Night elf is always a good choice if you care about useful racials.

Panda is true monk, beside of that, Orc, Dwarf or Kultiras may be ok.
My main has been this Pandaren monk since MoP, so always my preference.
I also have a Z troll WW monk, a KT brew monk who’s always drinking and a human monk I’ve barely leveled.
I made a draenei monk during remix so I could hoof kick things and a DS troll I had for over a year I deleted and remade in remix so I could finally level him.
I have a worgen that’s been sitting since remix that I’m probably going to delete and maybe make an Earthen since the idea of punching things with the crystal knuckles appeals to me.
I prefer WW over the others but do have two brewmasters…no interest in healing.
Anyway, long story short, I think KTs and dwarves of any kind fit the brewmaster theme, but really, whatever theme you have in your head works for just about any of them. You can take any race and make them a pacifist of sorts, someone who doesn’t fit in the mold of the rest of them. /shrug

It depends on what you want to do. But you should look at all the racials that the races have. Personally I would go with either Orc, Zandalari Troll. Those are what I would go if I was making a new Monk
