What race "screams" mage?

As Chinagate continues and Stuttergate continues to stutter. I have a WoW related question.

In your opinion, which race for a Mage? I’m trying to pick a race for my Mage. And FYI only allied races I’ve unlocked are Dark Iron, Nightborne, and Mag’har. It can be either alliance or horde. I’m leaning towards horde though as I’ve almost exclusively played alliance, and a change might be nice. Annnnnd go…

Nightborne if you go arcane
Dark iron for fire

Mag’har…dunno, does not screams mage to me

Yeah. It doesn’t have to be an allied race, those are just the ones I’ve unlocked. I do like the aesthetic of Nightborne though.

I’m gonna be a Vulpera Frost main, idk something about the desert makes me think the foxes are good with the cold…could also be good with Fire too.

A Vulpera fire mage would be amusing. Catching their bushy tail on fire by accident.

Dwarf Frost mage
Any elf Arcane Mage
Goblin or Orc Fire Mage
Draenei Arcane Mage
Kul Tiran Frost Mage
Dark Iron Fire Mage

There are lots that fit a certain spec.

Yeah, elf does seem to be the “stereotype” obvious choice. Was curious if something a little unusual, might pop up in someone else’s view.

I tried to make the archetypal arcane mage. Take a look

oops how do i show the right character…

Elves are all great for Arcane, but if I must give myself a cookie, humans mog better than most elves. Also, I loved levelling an arcane void elf but quickly I grew tired of him. They run funny. I think it’s the arms? Not sure. Anyway, I hate robes and humans mog the best for non-robe mages.

Since you want Horde, Nightborne look cool, also undead and trolls. I don’t like bulky races as casters (worgen, orcs, etc) as it feels wierd being a highly physical race wearing robes and tossing colorful balls of light around instead of waving a big axe

Void Elfs, Humans and Gnomes. In WC3 all the magical users were either Human or Elves.

So Horde side the impression I’m getting is “Elf” then Troll and Undead. And Alliance side Void Elf, then Human Gnome.

I did build sympathy for the Nightborne (like a lot of people) during Legion. It was my favorite part of the expansion really.

So maybe I’ll do a Nightborne, or perhaps a Forsaken.

Recently rolled this mage myself. I love Orcs so that definitely influenced my decision xD

That is part of my problem. Really haven’t fallen in love with any particular race. Trying to find one who’s story I can really sink into. Hm…

I have always liked dwarfs, when it comes to your standard high fantasy (D&D, Tolkien). They never really struck me as “wizard” types. Maybe I should give them a second look. Might be able to RP something to get the mage and dwarf thing to line up a bit better. Perhaps something with the elements. Dark Irons history of Sorcerer Thanes and Ragnaros has some potential.

Draenei have a long storied history with the arcane arts since they were the Eredari (sp?)

Well, I’ve made a Draenei and a Dark Iron on Alliance. For Horde, I made a Forsaken and a Nightborne. I’ll play around with them and see if something clicks with me.

Arcane - Nightborne/Gnome/Human
Fire - Blood Elf/Dark Iron/Human
Frost - Undead/Human
