I want to play a Draenei so should I make a regular Draenei or a Lightforged Draenei for a mage. Which would be better.
Normal dranei has more skins tone variety. Very good for transmog. Lightforged have a niche holy look.
normal have jc buff
lightfotged have better bs buff.
Lightforged have a good on use dps ability.
Normal has a decent passive but good on use heal.
Blue Draenei or blue elf.
Lightforged Draenei look better imo, but have far less customization, so it depends on what kind of look you’re going for. Racials don’t matter much.
Well, if racials are the deciding factor it’s a 20% self heal, on a class that can’t heal itself and a decent passive intellect bonus with normal goats versus some extra AoE damage every 2.5 minutes.
Personally, I think mage leveling is one of the worst due to no self healing, so I’d go normal goat if I was going to go goat at all.
if you need any heals while leveling as a mage, you’re doing something wrong.
Oh yes, of course. Just kite everything, nothing ever goes wrong.
Night Elf. Shadowmeld is just too good for open world leveling. Especially when you hit the pathfinder expacs and mob density skyrockets. You will come to love your agro drop more than life itself.
forsaken
I would say it depends on you. Normal Draenei have that nice 20% heal racial, so it’s a bit of self healing that mages normally don’t have. But LFD have a great damage racial. If you want to maximize damage, I’d say LFD are better. But if you are someone who normally plays it safe or likes to help out by tossing a friend a heal here and there, normal Draenei are better.
I do have to say so far on my Lightforged Draenei I use the AoE ability a ton.
Even now at 98 it’s soooo good.
In my opinion if you’re levelling as Fire/Ice probably normal Draenei and if you’re going arcane for most of the way or all of the way then Lightforged.
Arcane’s AoEs are close up so it can benefit from the racial.
I would argue solo mage isn’t much fun when you don’t seriously over gear what you’re fighting and the higher you get the less the gap between you and the enemy. Fighting enemies that actually stand a chance involves running in circles hoping they die before they hit you twice, break your shield, and then smack you around enough that you have to eat food after. Boring and frustrating.
I’ve asked this before and I’ll ask it again, Blizzard please let Water Elementals tank. Give them a stance/glyph than also reduces their damage if you’re worried about balance.
Dark Iron Dwarf.
Fine fine, between the two… Light Forged.
Personally, female lightforged look amazing in the mythic ToS set
They also have the best dps racial for mythic+
And they have the best horn options. Regular draenei are cool, but they could use more horn options
On the downside, their profession racial is blacksmithing which is useless to a mage. They also look out of place sometimes because they have this whole “holy light” aesthetic, and it doesn’t always fit certain armors or environments

if you need any heals while leveling as a mage, you’re doing something wrong.
Horrific Visions wouldn’t be the least bit possible for a solo mage without 3x Cauterizing Blink or other similar survivability traits.
good thing he was talking about leveling not end game content. You should find it rather difficult to die leveling a mage, at least in the world
Fair enough. Then refer to a response above me.

Oh yes, of course. Just kite everything, nothing ever goes wrong.
Don’t think it’s possible to do a complete 100% no damage run of WoW throughout the leveling process, and not having heals does make the mage tougher than most to level.

Don’t think it’s possible to do a complete 100% no damage
it’s not about not taking any damage, it’s simply about not dying or getting to the point where you need a healer to keep you up. Mages are very good at getting out of trouble in the open world if you know what you’re doing. Especially a night elf mage with shadowmeld as an extra escape.
If Night Elf is an option for a class, always choose Night Elf. Shadowmeld is brokenly useful.
Not every mage is gonna be a night elf of course. But yeah even while leveling it’s very possible to get overwhelmed, get jumped by sudden respawns, etc.
