Horde: Blood Elves and Undead both do an outstanding job of looking like great Mages, but I have been a fan of Darkspear Trolls and Z Trolls for Mage lately.
Alliance: I really like Gnome Mages and Warlocks.
Gnomes, Humans, and Worgen for Alliance.
Blood Elf, Nightborne, and Goblin for Horde.

avoid blood elves at all cost get rid of them, nightborne are ok for mages but never make a male, trolls are pretty cool as well. Undead is kind of boring cause everyone goes them, but if you like them then pick them. for alliance id say void elf (which are also part of the blood elf plague but they fit amazingly with their racials) and DID for fire mage.

Horde? There is only two options that “best fits” a mage. Nightborne or Blood Elf

horde: blood elves all the way. they look great in every mage transmog. it’s as if the race was built for that class. a close second would be nightborne.
alliance: gonna have to go with human on this one.
Nightborne and gnome. The two smartest races on their sides respectively.
