What Race / Class Animations Would You Change

Blizzard has added a lot of new animations for a lot of new spells which is great. Some examples I can think of are animations for Arcane Explosion, Death Strike, instant cast spells like Ice Lance where you do the hand flick. Though personally, I think some of the best animations are the ones that are fluid and flow well from the class’s ready animation, such as for Windwalker Monk pressing Tiger Palm, the Demon Hunter abilities such as Demon’s Bite or Chaos Strike.

I think we should have class-based animations to make things look a lot smoother. I love how Monks and Demon Hunters have unique ready animations, but Demon Hunters get another win by having this animation WHILE running instead of just the usual jogging.

Now I would love to see

  1. Classes with unique ready animations and running animations because the jogging while holding the weapon looks ridiculous and on 2h classes, it looks like the swords are virtually weightless.

  2. Unique animations of abilities for more classes that flow smoothly from the ready animation in number 1.

  3. Animations that look good while moving. I feel like some animations look great on the move, but for example when doing the old blood elf special attack (like when you cast Frost Strike), you spin around like a beyblade, which was probably great when you would just stand around and hit things, but with things being more mobile, it looks silly, and with TWW coming around, using frost strike as a blood elf on the Rider of the Apocalypse mount spins your torso around 360 degrees.

  4. Maybe the ability to choose what animations you’d want to have

I think the death animations should all be as funny as the male blood elf and the female goblin. The human die animation is very boring for example.

i would really be a belf dude but the casting spells irritate me so damn bad
PLS blizz change the crap. hes like hes pulling one of those weighted ball things from gym
from his butt lol like it legitimately angers me to see them cast like that lol

My only request is for guardian Druid mage tower appearances to be able to sleep. It only took almost two years (?) to get a dance.

Yeah I think that one really needs to be fixed. It looks like they’re skipping? Maybe if they had something similar to the worgen one where they’re running like they look like a threat

I hate how the Belf female model holds a gun while shooting. It doesn’t aim, it holds the gun as if it was holding a machine gun. How is Blizz suppose to make me think I’m casting “Aimed Shot” when it looks like I’m not even aiming.

Oh yes. How the Belf female model holds spears it looks just stupid. Back when I was a Velf I wanted to play survival with the legion wep transmog but I couldn’t get past how it uses it. Yikes.

Human casting should be jazz hands

  1. Direct casting for male Night Elves / Nightborne (e.g. casting fireball, wrath, etc). It just looks so dumb
  2. Female B.Elf sword+shield stance is really dumb. Why on Azeroth would you hold your shield BEHIND you instead of forward?
  3. Also the female B.Elf polearm / staff stance looks dumb as well.
  4. A lot of the non-Monk fist stances look silly to me as well.

Those are what I can think of, off the top of my head, that I’d change.

The animations are fine, but the combat stances are just uniformly awful.

Give casters the option to:

A) Remove weapon animations and models.
B) Use weapons to cast spells, especially staves and wands.

New Templar’s Verdict animation being a giant hammer you pull out of nowhere like an anime is pretty dumb if you ask me.

So many options!

  • Caster classes being able to channel their abilities through their wands and staves.

  • Holding the staves all the time and resting it on the ground when stationary (no more back).

  • Magically being able to summon your weapon when needed (hide weapon).

  • New stationary postures, like holding your hand on the hilt of your sword.

  • New idle animations like an Outlaw Rogue flipping a coin in the air and shooting it with a pistol, or a Mage summoning a broom to clean up a mess, or a Warlock teasing their Imp with magic.

Casters using their staff as a walking stick, instead of sheathing it on their back like its a greatsword.
