What quest is a core wow memory for you?

For me? Classic 04, deep sea vast ocean. Ill never forget the day after trying and trying, in groups and without, that you could just access the chest through the wall outside of the ship and skip all the elite murlocs. After that? Its the quest that took you to the naga infested ruins at the very top of darkshore and I found a statue that lets you summon a spirit cat. Good times.

Mankirk and his wife. And the stolen silver.

“We’ve been ambushed by a Sith battle fleet! The Endar Spire is under attack! Hurry up – we don’t have much time!”

Nesingwary hunting stuff, the types of quests that send you off to just kill X amount of this or Y amount of that are more and more rare these days, i miss them dearly.

oh god barrens chat was always full of “wear is mankirks wife!” becasue observation skills were at an all time low…

The Corin’s Crossing quests (and that area) will always have a special place in my heart. Dinged 60 there on my first character.

Westfall Stew.

Any quest involving Yetis in Feralas, whether its spending days getting their pelts because RNG hates me, or escorting a sad stupid chicken

Nessingwary quests in Vanilla and TBC. But also the Hunter quest for Rhok/Lhok and quiver.

Still have the ring for UBRS, Drakefire Amulet and Furlbog trinket

The first few that pop in my mind are Knucklerot and Lurzan, Suncrown Village/Anok’Suten, Cities in Dust and The Kurken is Lurkin’ for very small memories I have!

Knucklerot and Lurzan because it was the one of the first times I saw an elite group quest so I thought it’d be really challenging and didn’t attempt it, I ended up coming across one of them by accident later on and getting jump-scared by my sudden, out of nowhere death.

Suncrown Village/Anok’Suten because I have a very specific memory tied to it. I had just gotten my BE to 9 or 10 and was just leaving Eversong, Ghostlands was the first zone I had gone to and the darker tone and ambiance of the place came out of nowhere to me.
I didn’t even pick up the quest initially because I was too busy exploring Suncrown.
I actually think I skipped the quest close to the bridge that’s supposed to be a transition into Ghostlands and just swam across.
Then I saw that the enemies levels were in the orange/red range and that one elite spider, and then promptly backed off until later. 9 yr old me was intimidated easily by orange and red levels on mobs, and the skull?!?!?! No way man, nu uh.
~
Cities in Dust because I actually didn’t end up finishing Silverpine when I quested there. I had thought I did all the quests and went over to another zone and didn’t think much of it. Then I was flying past on a flightpath and saw a quest pop up in the last area of the zone and was confused as I thought I had already done everything, so I took another fp back.

Turns out I skipped out on the quests with Godfrey and his group somehow, at this point I was either in the 30s or 40s but decided to do them anyway as I liked finishing zones, even though I was getting basically nothing aside from the achievement.
These quests actually made me read up about Sylvanas’s lore and the lore of the forsaken, I came into the game during Cataclysm and had no prior knowledge on any of the games lore, and now the lore of the Undead is one of my favorites in this game.

Looking back on it, I do still think it’s a little funny that Godfrey shot her in the back, nothing fancy, no magic, just bullet. Man, think of what we could avoided if the Valkyr weren’t there to res her.

And then The Kurken is Lurkin’ is due to the fact that Kurken has a really unique model. I was leveling a Draenei alt and was floored with how cute this demon dog was, I immediately looked up if this good boi was tameable and he was.
I logged off that alt and went on my Hunter right away to go and tame it, worried the whole time I would get killed because my Hunter was Horde, it was a very stressful boat ride for me.

There’s other honorable mentions but the main one would have to be all those document quests lying around Loch Modan, I enjoyed going to different spots to pick them up and holding them til the very end to get that sweet sweet burst of XP.

Also those Twilight Highland introduction quests, but I think those are now removed which kind of sucks. The introduction quest to Vashj’ir is another one but that’s not because of the quest and more just the zone putting my little brain in awe.

same on my druid. That furlbog rod is a staple for any shapeshifter!!!

Getting to Feralas for the first time during vanilla was pretty amazing. It was this old growth forest, unlike anything the game had shown me prior to that (Ashenvale came the closest, but seemed like a much younger place).

There were these really out of the way NPCs who needed you to do random quests, and it just felt very secluded. The way they built the zone and how faraway it felt from everything was wonderful. I often would end my play sessions sitting at the shore of Feathermoon Stronghold, just looking out at the water. In fact, I took a 10 year break from this game, and on what i thought would be my last log off, i logged out there at the shores of Feathermoon as a last good bye :smiling_face_with_tear:

I cant remember if the Dire Maul patch released before or after i first i quested there, but the whole Dire Maul story was pretty great as well-what with ghost elves and the shendralar–so moody!! And who could forget one of the first story driven, long, epic quests for Quel Serrar attached to Dire Maul as well!

I did the epic warlock quest in vanilla there. It was so hardcore. I also grinding the wolves in feralas until lvl 45 if I am not mistaken, because classic wow had those horrific level gaps between quests/zones that FORCED you to grind because they didnt add quests in much for alliance between 41 and 48. Part of there original idea of not having quests at all. They wanted us all to grind. Then again 99% of the quests in classic awarded terrible awards as well.

I thought it was kind of neat having to look for where to get xp. It sucked sometimes, but it was always nice finding that new quest chain, or grind spot for xp. There were always dungeons , which were always way harder than the level bracket they gave good xp for, but that made it all the more challenging!

Journeys End from the Eastern Plaguelands questline. Not the most climatic showdown at the end, but the title of the quest “Journeys End” alongside that it was the final one of the story for the zone has always felt memorable to me.
