I really wonder.
Word is we’ll be grinding our abilities/talents again in the 3rd rendition of endgame leveling through some kind of ‘vestiges’ system.
Will pvp gearing change at all? Bring back vendors, honor/conquest currency, and pvp gear scaling for pvp so it can be best at pvp while mediocre for pve?
Will the entire structure focus around /timeplayed above anything else? Will there be flight time gated 10 months later behind finishing everything plus 8+ rep grinds til we hate it?
Will tier sets return to all raid tiers? Will gear sets return in general?
Will there be a compelling legendary system or main questline?
Will there be a plethora of gear sets that differ between pve/pvp?
Will more abilities go on the GCD?
Will they throw away all of our abilities from BfA and makes us really start at level 100 yet again? Will the endgame system be disposable again?
But really, will this be an xpac that can come remotely close to the subs of MoP and previous?
i hope they remove m+ and bring back 10 mans for gearing out before raids like they did in tbc.

I hope they get rid of AP, that would be good progress.

Hopefully returning to a more traditional grind type. Like hunting specific gear piece.
I would love Mythic plus to go away personally. Not because I hate it but I think that type of grind should stick to Isometric Action RPG. Never did fit in my mind as MMORPG content.

Optimistic me wants to say tier sets and reasonable class design would come back.
Realistic me recognizes tier sets went away because they don’t care about mogs and such. If you need evidence look at the actual raid gear. Uldir and EP are awful no matter what gear type you’re wearing. Concept art was done in the same room as testing for player engagement ages 6 and under. Think crayons, and lots of them.

Tier sets would be nice. But contrary to other posters, I love M+ and hope it stays as a path for gear progression.

I agree 100 percent get rid of M+ it ruins the game

How does M+ ruin the game? Can you elaborate?

M+ is a fantastic system for keeping dungeons relevant throughout an expansion. Stepping Stone content is a waste of dev time if there’s not a higher difficulty of that same content that has some form of longevity.
For that reason, it should never die.
But it needs to be balanced. It’s too hyper-efficient right now despite the RNG, and it seems to be by design for some reason. It has no lockout to speak of despite Mythic 0s having a weekly lockout and even Heroics having a daily lockout. It rewards Heroic Raid quality gear for infinitely less effort and coordination. It rewards near-Mythic Raid quality gear for that same content every week for free.
I have ideas, but tbh it’s too much to put into this reply. M+ needs changes. Raiding needs changes too. At least in terms of systems and reward schemes. Probably a bit on the tuning side for M+ as well (BfA +10s are not the same as Legion +15s).

Why are tier sets better? You’d prefer being stuck with one trait per item, with no choices, and only by running normal raids? How is that better? Nostalgia strikes again?
I hope they continue in the same path. The games gets better and better.
I’m going to take issue with the effort side of the comment. There is a reason so many rage filled posts come up about IO/leavers, and those aren’t from the 15+ key community.
A large part of the WoW community is just not very good at things. I don’t mean this as flame but it’s a fact. People who find success in m+ either have a group they run with or are slightly above average player skill.
The balance part I feel like should come in the form of class balance. Rogues don’t and probably never did need a damage nerf, but they have so much utility packed into 1 class its insane. Not to mention other melee classes are walled off by arbitrary cleave caps or long CD windows. Casters are stuck with long interrupt CDs or no interrupts at all. If this is the way going forward, the playing field needs a little leveling.

Why not have both? Why get rid of mythic+s? Are you getting declined because of io score?
There is a negative side with everything and what you mention there is the truth.
But overall what I believe the Majority do not like is that WoW has been trying to make everything esport.
Arena was, now it’s more so meh. I don’t know of anyone who talks about it.
Mythic International was one as well. So therefor Mythic plus has been tuned at rediculous standards that can even make Mythic raiding like a playground.
Just keep the game fun, it doesn’t need to be an esport. That is one big reason why classic is successful right now.

So here’s the problem I have with this: The same people who complain about IO and such in retail are the same people who will remind you unsolicited about how “hard” classic is. I’m not going to open that can of worms here but what I take from that is most players here are looking to be challenged just a bit, but in different ways. Retail does this poorly.
I agree the esports side of things has hurt the game overall. I don’t like WoW pvp. The game isn’t balanced around pvp and it can’t be. That means unless someones running an off meta arena comp there isn’t much for the average viewer to appreciate.
I think the MDI would be much more entertaining if they had bothered to balance classes for it. Watching both teams running 1-3 rogues, a prot warr and a resto druid on affixes that people PRAY FOR when they get their own personal keys is also not compelling.

See, part of the issue is that “success” to someone looking to gear up right now doesn’t mean “time the dungeon.”
It means “get into the dungeon”.
Because unless people ragequit, you’re basically always going to be able to finish a dungeon for the loot. Doesn’t matter to your average Joe that they’re screwing up someone else’s key who wants to push it further.
One of my ideas is linking everyone’s key to the current run. Require all 5 to have an equal or higher level key of any dungeon for the lead to start it. Now -everyone- has to progress to what they want, instead of just spamming applications on Tuesday and complaining about io on the forums.
You can also add “plays a tank or healer” to the “people who find success” category. Because it’s like 3x easier to get an invite with bad scores as those roles, at least in 1-10.
Getting into the group doesn’t guarantee completion. If i’m running something higher than 11 it probably isn’t for the gear. This is where people get themselves in trouble. From my own experience:
Tank has learned to LoS void emissaries by stacking a pack behind a corner. Except now its quaking week with 3 melee dps and this is in fact an awful idea. We had the dps to just burn the emissary but now we’re wiping instead.
Someone knows what the KR shadow adds do and has a plan to deal with them, except this week its bursting week and you just killed us all 45 seconds into the dungeon, and you’re doing to do it again before the first boss is pulled.
Everyone understands what bolstering is, up until the minibosses in Shrine. If the air lady doesn’t kill you having a runecarver at 5 stacks probably will even with the rune he puts on the ground.
None of this is conducive to timing a key. I will tolerate it when I have to run 100 Kr’s to get my new season geti’s, but I’m not gonna stick around if i’m just trying to get IO
I would agree with you if the dungeons where interesting, engaging, non linear affairs.

Shadowlands isn’t even confirmed and at this time is just a rumor. Some reddit poster "leaked’ some stuff and everyone believes it…
I’ll have to assume you don’t run m+. You might not enjoy it, but it forces engagement. If you’re not paying attention and looking for opportunities to make thing smoother you’re probably part of the problem.

its only been here since mid to end legion and there are more people that hate m+ then like it.
