What player names really stuck with you?

I was thinking about it the other day and there’s really just a few names I’ve seen that have really stuck with me for whatever reason. Not mentioning servers because I don’t even remember what servers they were on. And all of these were so long ago I wouldn’t be surprised if they even play anymore.

Anyway, even though I’ve see tons of great names over the years, only three really came to mind:

Backup - Just a great one because when anyone needs help what do they need? Backup? In trouble? Call for Backup.

A tauren named Moll - Because the actor Richard Moll played “Bull” on Night Court. He told me I was the first person to get it. LOL This was way back in Vanilla or maybe BC?

A warlock named Britneyfears - Again, back in Vanilla so it was pretty original at the time and, you know, culturally relevant.

Honestly, I don’t know why these three stick with me so much. I’ve seen better, cleverer, and funnier over the years. But these three got stuck in my head like an ad jingle heard in childhood.

Variation of that called Critneyfears. Also saw Paladins named “Critney” back in the days when crit was their favored stat.

But the one name that I’ll always remember is a tauren named Hoofhearted. Because it’s such an innocent looking name when you look at it . . . but absolutely hilarious when you say it outloud.

Salty balls

Blood Guard (feminine hygiene product). Really sad they were forced name change over a product used daily when way worse and unsavoury names based off of people and groups get to hang around for years

Battlemaster Battlemaster (so much so, i ended up taking the name myself 12 years later :stuck_out_tongue: )

Dora the Explorer

There was a troll rogue named Fool back on Illidan in the olden days, he was always a fun sight.

I personally have a character named Eat on SoD, a Tauren Hunter, but I’ve since stopped playing over there.

I used to have silly names myself. I had a troll rogue named Toilet in Wrath, as well as a troll warrior named Dinosaur. Both on Illidan, my home realm.

After a while, I just got tired of the puns and eventually wanted more RP-esque names for my characters.

I’ve seen TaylorSwift in Diablo 4 that kind of stuck with me

Sorelai, they post on the forums. All my toons have an ai at the end or Lore at the beginning. Sorelai fits right in with the naming scheme lol.

Saw a guild name the other day “Mitsakes Happen” and I have never laughed so much at a guild name before lol

During Cata I ran a Deadmines with a dwarf rogue named Holybeercans. He was playing entirely with the trial version, so capped at 20. This guy was so nice, and great at his class. We ran the dungeon 3-4 times I think, and he made it a great time. Inspired this character (the rogue/dwarf combo, not the name) .

Yeah, I didn’t really go full RP names, my names tend to be things, like Peppermint or Pumpkin, but I did get tired of the puns. I only have a few actual pun names left. Though I do have some that aren’t really puns but sort of tie into the race or class, like Turbo and Gearbox my mechagnomes.

Dotfeardead. Warlock because duh.
Bubblenrun. Paladin because duh.

Not entirely name relevant, but someone had a pandaren priest named Jackblack with ASCII and he had macro’d saying Skadoosh every time he used that holy ring ability.

Back in Cata, I saw troll druid named Boomjin. Made me chuckle.

My troll shaman back in WOTLK was Mojohexual. I occasionally got whispers of approval from strangers.

Edit: I also remember a female UD warrior back in vanilla named Sunderella.
