What player housing in WoW I think should look like

I feel like they should do a combination of ESO and SWTOR housing system where there at set locations that you can go to visit and within the house there’s a set place you can put decoration and items in it. They also need to make all decorations all be made from player professions and unique based on player race/achievements/etc and not be obtainable at all within the WoW store (none of this cartel coins credit or crown credit or real life money like in other games).

Then maybe later on add some house decoration to be obtained in either dungeons/raid, quests, trading post, black market auction house or even npc vendors that come every once in awhile (holiday events, WoW anniversary, or random special events)

This is how they make a boatload of money, though. Decos from Twitch drops, Prime Gaming, cash shop and Trading Post.

That’s the incentive for them to even consider player housing.

Decos should be available from all content, all professions, but not race locked.

I get what your saying but if there going to do that they need to make it only a few items and have those items still be obtained though the trading post as I said they should do later on

I largely agree, however having it where only Blood Elf can make a Blood Elvin tapestry and have craft that be race locked will encourage a wider array of trading so then you can go to an Orcish crafter make you a Orcish rug because because you like it better than the other race locked design.

You can still obtain the deco but you would need a certain race to craft the item in the first place

Newer cash shop items usually are available in the Trading Post later. Things seem to be on the path to cycle in and out of both.

So using work orders for decos, but anyone can place the deco, regardless of race. I can get behind that.

there is no universe in which a MMO with a prominent cash shop will have Housing but will not have tons of decorations on sale in the cash shop.

Housing decorations print money, and no MMO developer is going to leave that money on the table.

Everything else, I can dig it.

The best stuff for your house is going to cost $25+. Probably $50+. While we’re being realistic, just owning the house or plot of land in WoW will be $100+ and that won’t include the building.

Nothing good will be earnable through gameplay other than the usual fomo ksm/arena gladiator crap that might include some trophy for your house.

nah, neither of this is right it’s just utterly pessimistic for the sake of being pessimistic.

Realistically -

The Plot and/or House itself would just cost a metric ton of gold.

You would be able to craft decorations and sell them on the AH, and you’d be able to get trophies from Boss Kills.

well, in any proper housing system anyway.

I got Ifrit’s head on my wall in my FF14 house.

You’ll also see themed furniture packs in the Cash Shop and in the Trading Post.

Everyone would be able to get a house and it wouldn’t be mandatory. It would work like ESO and SWTOR. In ESO you can still visit the house and be around it even when you don’t own it yet and in SWTOR inside the house there are set locations where you can place items and decorations

So true! Even in FFXIV, every dye is available in-game except for the most sought after - Jet Black.

It also reminds me of those 3D character modeling apps. You’ll get the basic assets for free but anything that makes your character look awesome, gotta shell out.

I think player housing is a waste of dev time.

Yeah, honestly I feel like it’s pretty expected by most people who want housing in WoW.

I think it’s fine, personally, especially since WoW’s cash shop will always be better than other MMOs purely by virtue of the fact that you can trade in gold for store credit, effectively making it a slightly more complicated in-game shop as long as you’re willing to farm.

how do you do this?

I thought you could only buy WoW Tokens for game time with gold?

Nah they need to make all these items both craftable, AND drop from sources from all expacs. Reasons to go run an old dungeon or raid, or do something in the outdoors in an old expac. They want player interaction, thats how they do it.

Didn’t know ESO had housing, might have to actually give it a shot. :robot::thought_balloon:

i don’t want current WoW team even getting near player housing, they’ll do an extremely not good job at it.

No matter what they do they will never come close to Second Life for player housing. In 2ndLife there are furniture stores, all the furniture has animations to allow your avis to do things, there are lamps that work, complete kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms etc.

So maybe Blizzard could work a deal with Linden Labs and subcontract out their housing. It would be several orders of magnitude better than anything any MMO could provide.

Pretty sure LL has checked out completely, and letting SL either flourish or die its deserved death.

That said, if wow housing items had animations, it would make them even more wanted.

I hihgly doubt theres enough of the playerbase to make any type of deal worth it to Blizzard to be honest

Most of the ESO games have housing dating back to original xbox and morrowind

Yeah same. People need to leave their own homes for a bit and get off the game lmao
