What other than WoW is your favourite MMO? And why?

I’ll start, mine is Pirate101. It’s very nostalgic for me cause I’ve played it since I was a kid.
It’s art style is very bright and vibrant, dated and a little on the lower graphics side but it has style!!
The gameplay is very fun, very strategic.
All the characters and story are also super cool and engaging!!!

So what are y’alls??

I don’t know. There are certain aspects of the older games that I miss but nothing in totality or I would be still playing it. That being said Ultima Online still holds a special place in my heart because it was the first MMO I played.

I’ll take your Pirate 101 and Raise you Wizard 101 I’m surprised no other mmo card game has taken off like it.

Ff14.

Used to be swtor but it has aged so badly.

Wildstar. Still mad about it.

XIV’s second. Literally just missing open world PvP or it’d be my main game.

Wizard101 is definitely one of my faves, I think I’ve always like Pirate101 more though just cause pirates are cool!!!

The private Server for Wildstar is up, at least for the starter zones.

There’s a lot to be said for Private Servers.
The Warhammer Fantasy MMO is actually thriving now that it’s private.

SWTOR

Why? I dunno, I just enjoy it.

FFXIV to be blunt.

I like music, and FFXIV’s got banger tracks, that make fights feel more intense.

I’m gonna be generic and say FFXIV. It’s basically modeled after Cata-era WoW so it’s the most familiar. I enjoyed the MSQ, which means I didn’t hate that so much of questing is just reading and cutscenes. And the endgame, while I’m not fond of the gearing setup and it generally offers less “hard” content than WoW, is pretty solid (and again, familiar). Class Design is good. Character Customization is good. (Housing is awful because of how you get into it, but alright once you’re in)

Wildstar might’ve been up there if it survived. I quit when I hit max level because I was still Raiding in WoW and wouldn’t have time to do both, and by the time I looked back, it was gone.

Runescape is an honorable mention, but it REALLY requires that nostalgia factor for a lot of people, I think. It’s unique, but it’d be hard for someone who’s never heard of it to care about it. Personally, I go on Runescape binges once in awhile, but never stick to it for too long at a time.

There are other MMO’s besides WoW? I need to get out more often.

Assuming we are refining it to MMO-RPGs then probably GW2 just because I really enjoyed the large scale PVP. Wildstar had me the most hyped though… but I had PC issues when it launched and by the time they were fixed, the game was dead. :expressionless:
Neverwinter was fun and I was getting into it too. But I vaguely remember some weird stuff with an in-game currency? Causing some drama.

I have never fully engaged in another MMO-RPG. I do not even know if I’ve hit max level in another MMO-RPG.

Outside of RPG’s, Enlisted is a pretty fun war MMO. I don’t believe it’s super popular but I enjoy the PVE element and the quick respawns.

I must say FFXIV like some of you.

I always swap to FFXIV between patches since 2021 and feels really great.

I’ll stay in wow for a while because expansions starts is a blast of fun, but I’ll play the next FFXIV patch (which starts 10/jan) before it ends.

Other than that, I still play Tibia, Runescape and Ragnarök sometimes for the nostalgia.

FFXIV is and will always be my favorite MMO.

I love the setting, the story, the gear design, the music and the community. I only unsub from the game for about a month every year to play other games, but always return to it after I’m done with them.

I really liked SWTOR, but EVERYTHING levels with you, so there is no perception of ever getting stronger.

  • GW2 is always fun when I return to it, it’s like a cozy blanket on a cold night: available and comfortable.
  • FFXIV is also a go-to, but I have to limit myself with that game or I will play it far too much and get little else done.
  • Wildstar I loved. The art style was great in that game and the housing is what all player housing wishes it could be. I saw some incredible player homes.
  • ESO is nice once in a while when I have an Elder Scrolls itch; I put away my consoles a long time ago.
  • SWTOR and LoTRO are fun but dated as all heck, they’ve not aged particularly well; still, they have their own charms.
  • EVE was fun for a while, but it started to remind me too much of my RL work.
  • Destiny 2 was pretty great while I could still manage to play it.
  • Riders of Icarus was interesting.

Basically, if it’s an MMO, I’ll usually find something good about it that keeps me playing for a while.
