So I leveled up tailoring and jewelcrafting on my priest. So that one item you can craft after doing a short questline allows you to go around and maybe get some cloth… cloth from previous expansions and maybe some from bfa…
So unless you’re looking for old appearances then it’s pretty useless. After that, you have no need for tailoring if you got your bis stat crafting pieces. Anything else offered is pretty useless.
Jewelcrafting is just a gold sink and if you’re looking to use it to craft gems, then you might as well just buy them because every single gem is worthless and goes for like 5g. Oh, and the special item allows you to remove a gem without breaking it? The very thing that is worthless and you might as well just buy a new gem.
So I’m leveling alchemy on my alt and then see you can transmute anchor weed daily. That’s a lot of weed for just logging in once a day. You can also do it for expulsom so you don’t have to spend hours scrapping greens for a CHANCE at getting it.
Lets not forget that pots will always be relevant and being able to craft them allows you to proc multiple ones. OH and flasks LAST LONGER. I am amazed how I use a flask only to check an hour later to see that the flask is still on because I’m still not used to them lasting 2 hours instead of 1.
Then the item you can craft after the special questline allows you to get free flasks and cauldrons? How is this fair compared to the other professions?

The free stuff you get from the item is outdated already and not really optimal for current content. Plus you don’t really get enough to survive on like that.
But if you think about it, all the flasks and pots are free for alchemists if they go pick the herbs anyway.
Tailoring and leather working will make more expulsion off scrapping bracers in a week than you’ll get transmuting all xpac…
Engineering has a BiS helm for many classes and if its not BiS it’s mythic equivalent. Tailoring can make socketed 440 gloves and pants which are better than 445 non-socketed from mythic. Same with LWing, same thing with black smithing…
Alchemy certainly isn’t the only good profession, its pretty useful, especially if you raid and need the consumables. But it’s not really better than any other. I would say my eng/tailor toon is better off than my alch/herb toon for raiding and general PVE.
You forget that those socketed pieces are probably replaceable by benthic pieces. For example, tailoring can craft gloves, but the benthic ones far outperforming the 440 ones. That’s like 1k dps more for just using the benthic ones and the difference outside the raid is very little. With the introduction of benthic pieces being so powerful, being able to craft gear is pointless.
They’re just a filler for missing pieces.
Healers and tanks gain nothing from benthic so they all still need it. The pants are better no matter what because benthic pants suck, the benthic boots are good for a few dps classes but not many.
Benthic basically takes up bracer and gloves (belt for 2 fights total) for most people and that is only for a single tier. Next raid that wont have any bearing anymore and it will be something different. Alchemy doesnt gain you any dps like the others might by having it. You dont get better/stronger pots or flasks, just a longer flask. It only offers a gold advantage like that, never a dps one. The trinket maybe…but it hasn’t been a BiS item for 3 xpac for anyone unless you are a healer.
Only thing that really matters in BFA is consumables.
Enchants, gems, potions/flasks.
