What NEW professions would you like to see?

Woodcutting?

Masonry?

And this could go towards building player housing or guild base?

Astrologer (lean into fortune cards from darkmoon faire)

Music Composer (let people write and duplicate scores for other players to add to their backgrounds in-game)

Artist (make murals or paintings on random walls or floors, graffiti etc, for peoples’ houses)

Sheparding (moving a bunch of cute animals around minigame, with progression, it gets easier and you can move more at once as you skill up)

Butchery (another option with skinning, getting really good at collecting meat from animals for cooking)

Surgeons (basically what the barber shop does but done by players with funky little customizations, if it goes bad they get like a third arm or something for a minute, can operate on all your alts or other players)

Love the woodcutting idea as furniture for houses

Woodworking could make furniture, bows, staves, trinkets, boat mounts, furniture shields, target dummies, clubs, maces… it’s okay if other professions already do some of that. It’s nice to have new flavours/options.

I’d love to see some other professions expanded, like alchemists being able to make rare hair dye colours you can’t get at the barbor shop, tailors/leatherworkers/blacksmiths making full transmog sets and enchanters making whatever doodads make sense for a better transmog system that lets you equip like, and outfit crystal… instead of mogging each individual piece.

Raanthea…would love to see glyphs for inscription, as they were at the beginning, to come back into the game.

Not exactly what I was saying, but if they can figure out how to incorporate them in a way that isn’t a balancing nightmare, then sure.

Money Changer: Convert previous expansion currency to current expansion currency.
Cartographer: Make maps to hidden places …
School of Wizardry: Change BOP items to BOE (with usability restrictions).
Saddler: Make saddles tack with spells .
Carpenter IF housing is ever added
/bows in respect

The problem with new professions is the most suggested ones rely on things (like player housing) that aren’t currently in the game to be considered useful.

Woodcrafting WoW style for sure.

That doesn’t mean it can’t be useful in game.It can be used for other craft like staff making using finishers to add an extra ability or even a different make of totems.

How about we just make the current professions useful… unless that triggers a bunch of people, in which case I suggest something benign like musician (which uses skinning) and make instruments like drums, wind instruments (using bones from mobs), string instruments from hair and tendons etc. (You get the idea.) However, unless we have a bard class I don’t see much use for the music.

Actually, if we make professions use all of the old materials? I believe it will keep old zones alive. For example, instead of making brand new ores and herbs, what if we just required the old ones, (maybe increase the number needed by 3x). It would allow players to get old ores and put them on the AH, and have people actually buy them since they would be relevant again. Some new recipe uses iron, cobalt, and some true iron to make. This would make you go to the old areas and collect old ores and herbs to make your stuff. Combining the old xpacs would make it interesting and you wouldn’t be able to just go to one but multiple.

I guess I am just so done with professions at this point… I am trying to think of something new. And in DF I truly feel Blizzard missed the mark in a big way. I have an alt army and can not get anywhere with any of them because I would have to focus on just one to actually make headway. So, perhaps we can come up with something new or just different.
