What mobile games do you play?

I understand you guys may not have phones… but I thought it would be nice to ask!

I have found myself playing Reigns: Her Majesty all the time lately, which is a sort of card/story game with lots of riddles and a dash of RNG. I’ve played the original Reigns as well, but as a woman I was much more interested in this version. You have to buy it outright for a few bucks, but it’s become one of my favorites, and your puzzle/memory skills get a real workout with it.

There is also Good Pizza, Great Pizza! which is probably the best pizza making game ever. It’s free (at least on mobile), super simple to start, and takes a while to master as you add more ingredients and progress through the story. It also guarantees that I will buy a pie for dinner every time I play it.

Sometimes I will also play Hay Day, which is one of those Farmville-esque games (but has way more fun content), Hearthstone, Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links (it gets me right in the childhood nostalgia), or Happy Glass, which is a weirder game where you draw lines to get water in a glass and make sure it doesn’t fall. Has an obnoxious amount of ads, though.

All jokes aside, I am actually looking forward to Diablo: Immortal! It’s one of my girlfriend’s favorite universes and we’re excited at the prospect of exploring it on-the-go. I am sad there won’t be a PC port, though.

Are there any mobile games that you adore to bits? Or are there perhaps some you avoid like the plague? I would love to know!

One of the mobile games I’ve played the most of, I think, was One Epic Knight. It was another one of those endless runner games, but it had a great deal of personality, humour, and polish to it. Unfortunately it doesn’t run on my current devices, so alas, no way I can play it.

Otherwise, I only really read or watch videos with my mobile devices now xD

As to avoiding them, however, I avoid any game that calls itself an RPG and requires I use on-screen buttons to move. They universally all are a pain in the butt to control and it’s unpleasant enough that there isn’t a single game on mobile that I know of that I would consider worth playing with that gameplay style, except -maybe- Kotor.

Mostly FF: Brave Exvius and Azur Lane. I just downloaded Fire Emblem Heroes, but I don’t have much in it yet.

They’re fine for when I’m waiting around for class to start or something. I haven’t spent any real money on them, and I can’t see myself doing so for imaginary ship girls or Tifa Lockhart or whatever, but they have been mostly generous enough with the gacha elements that I’m having fun fighting things.

I’m a lab tech for an Aerospace company and theres not a whole lot for me to do while my machines are in the process of cutting parts so mobile games and the WoW forums with spotify help pass the time.

For me I’ve been playing

Sonic Forces (4 player raceing game)
Epic Seven (RPG)
Monster Hunter Begins (RPG)

I’ve been wanting to try FF Brave Exvius but doesnt seem my phone wants to work with it.

I enjoy the reigns series, especially the latest GoT version.

Aside from that, I don’t really play mobile games anymore. I used to play Clash of Clans and a few other ones I can’t even remember. Reigns is perfect because it’s quick and doesn’t demand too much attention.

I played Heroes of Dragon Age for a while & really enjoyed it-- the gameplay wasn’t anything spectacular but I liked collecting heroes. It’s a pretty massive app though so I eventually had to uninstall it because of space issues.

There’s an app called Love 365 that I’m fond of, which is a collection of otome games by a Japanese publisher. They’re basically interactive stories where you get to pretend to date all the pretty boys. It’s fun. :woman_shrugging:

If I could double like this post I totally would. Though…

Did I ever tell you what those shades can do to an Orc?

For the Resistance! Uh. My RP partner got me into Ingress. I am high enough level I can make portals and approve them. I joined the local community and have networked with a bunch of local folks by doing so. When I needed to interview an engineer for my technical writing class I asked the local Res and was invited to interview a really cool software engineer at LinkedIn. It’s taken me interesting places. For example, there’s a hillside Catholic monastery and a Buddhist monastery on a hill a mile or two from my house, both open to the public.

Some of the Ingress players also play Pokemon go, so I picked that up.

Not one. I haven’t played a mobile game in years because I don’t like microtransactions nickle and diming me for every action.

That being said, I am curious about Diablo. I probably won’t play it. I just don’t have the time but if I did, maybe?

Card games. Hearthstone and The Elder Scrolls: Legends specifically. More of the former.

Fallout Shelter is honestly pretty fun for a base simulator and unless you’re the kind of NOW NOW NOW NOW person you can get pretty far without spending a single dime. Like most mobile games without a PvP hook the only reason to spend money is to save time.

Also, man, anyone remember Neko Atsume? Is that still a thing? I had so many cats.

Monster Hunter Stories. It’s not technically even a mobile game because it’s just a port from the 3DS version. Buy it for $20 once and that’s literally the only money you ever spend on it because the entire game is there. No microtransactions! Weeeee.

I don’t have a gaming phone so I’m relegated to Sudoku.

I played Pokemon Go in the summer of 2016 like everyone else. I wish we could go back there; that was the happiest everyone has been for a long time.

Other than that…Tetris, maybe? I just feel like every mobile game that’s well-made enough to hold my interest is ported to the PC anyway. I’d rather play games on my $1,500 computer instead of my underpowered $200 phone.

Pokemon Go for a bit. I’m more consistent on Hearthstone though.

I tried Dragalia but it was a dumpster fire plot in the first part and then requested I download another 5 gigs to play the next part of the story and I said forget it. Not a fan.

I’ve gotten old enough that I’ve started saying things like “Why would I play mobile games when I can read?”

If I’m at home would play real games not mobile games.

If I’m not at home and have to kill time for some reason I would much rather read.

I’ve got just one phone game: Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic. It’s a bit tricky to learn the commands/placements, and the buttons are often frustratingly tiny–leading to some accidental clicks, but it’s been a good enough time-waster these past several months that I feel like it’s paid for itself plenty.

And besides, the money I used to buy it was earned through doing those Google surveys so I wasn’t super hesitant about picking it up. No other games I saw that were decently rated piqued my interest. I used to have Hearthstone mobile, but I don’t really care for the game that much and if I play I do it on PC or my tablet.

Now I gotta go; have to finish laying the track for Mister Bone’s Wild Ride.

ETA: this thread reminds me I ought to give Pokemon GO another try. Maybe after it stops snowing, though.

I never got into Pokemon Go. I should give that a ‘go’ sometime. Pun fully intended.

Two mainly.

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius - Pretty great mobile game. Pretty much covers everything you’d expert in a mobile game, but has a lot of units, customization, story, and more. Even though the community complains daily about anything, it’s still one of the best mobile games I’ve played.

Final Fantasy Record Keeper - I’ve mostly quit this game. Whaled a lot on both FFBE/FFRK but learned my lesson big time on FFRK alone when it comes to spending on RNG. It’s okay, overall. Ten times grindier than FFBE, awful loading times, one-two types of weekly events, and a standard, outdated combat system, but still kinda fun sometimes.

Just noticed there’s a couple FFBE’ers in here. What’s your friend ID? I’ll add ya!
