ive been battling between hunter and monk for all of bfa and I want a secure main going into shadowlands. I have been playing a little bit of both through bfa as ive taken many breaks throughout the expansion as I was becoming bored of the current expansion. however that’s irrelevant to the question. this is mostly a hunter vs WW Monk dps question but if i ended up choosing monk i would prolly offspec heals.
I do a even mix of PvE and PvP so I guess my question is aimed towards just overall gameplay and satisfaction with the classes. I would really like to not play alts anymore and just have a true main. I did the hunter main for a couple expansions and ive done WW Monk for a couple expansions. i need some advice on what route to go moving forward as 8.3 is dropping and i want to make sure I’m good to go on doing all the farming. thanks all
Monk can heal, tank or DPS so you can always find a role to play and it injects some flavor into the class. It’s also the most fun class in the game.

Just a question of whether you plan to tank or heal. If the answer is no, Hunter. honestly no point in playing a trispec class just to do dps

If you just want to farm and not play as a tank or healer then stick with hunter. Monk’s greatness comes from being able to adapt to any role needed.

What’s wrong with playing Monk just for WW? If you like the playstyle and thematics, then why do you need more than 1 DPS spec?

Personally, I can’t wrap my head around just playing as DPS, but if I did I’d want to be versatile. Especially with hunter being able to chose to be ranged or melee dps is pretty clutch.

I played strictly combat forever until it was removed, so I guess I’m just used to it.
I don’t enjoy outlaw and havoc is now boring me to death, so I’m hoping in SL I can just play WW the entire expansion.
Except this dps spec is the most mobile spec in the game, that also happens to have some of the best cleave in the game, and is the only spec that allows you to make your weapons disappear and PUNCH THE SH*T OUT OF PEOPLE.

I really have only one reason I play Monk, Draenei…are somewhat unique…
Unique and fun.
Most of the other classes were gutted, now they add those pruned talents back as talent options. Monk is pretty much the only fun healer now a days.

This character started life years ago as a female draenei.
As Garrosh would say… “Times change.”

Honestly? All three specs are fun.
My only reason is that all my rank 3 essences are here.

What would you rather play?
I used to main BDK. I still maintain that DKs have the best lore and are the “coolest” class in the game; however, I am now firmly a monk main again.
I toyed with BrM a bit last season to hopefully gear up for MW PvP and now I just find it aggrivating to log on to my BDK. BrM has so many buttons to press, amazing AM, great utility and top tier kiting.
I logon my DK to get a m+ and visions but that’s about it. I’m a monk main now unless something drastic happens in SL release.
Bro same. I only long onto my DK though as an alt character for PvP, I don’t even blood unless I absolutely have too. Blood was fun but since BfA it kinda feels well, stale. Honestly I feel like BDK needs to take more damage to utilize it’s toolkit but can’t because of the nerf to Vet of the 3rd war. Definitely a much better tank in Legion
Monk on the other hand for me, it has mobility, good survivability, amazing utility and it’s just fun to play. I love all 3 specs. I love BrM, MW and WW in that order. I MW for PvP and love it. I am sold on the Monk class and highly suggest anyone to play it. While it’s not the most visually appealing, it definitely has a fun flow to it and one of the more well rounded classes in the game.
I loved BDK in legion. That was the first time I ever really tried tanking and I fell in love. I dropped every other character I had, and I had them all maxed, for BDK. Stale is a good description for them. They just aren’t great right now.

Havent tried blood since Legion, but looking for a new class anyway. For you monk players, does it not bother you to have weapons that you dont really swing?
No, it never really bothered me. I’ll build a mog around the weapons on my back or just use the handwraps to make them invisible. Nothing like punching dragons to death.
