does vendoring bars make more money then hides?
Are you talking about doing this while leveling or endgame?
People take skinning because of it’s synergy with leveling. A good portion of your quest mobs and things you kill in the world will be beasts. So you don’t have to go out of you way to farm.
Nodes are not like they are in modern wow. You will sit there and swing at a single mining node a few times before it completes. So it will take a lot more time.
If you are looking strictly at one stack of smelted bars vs one stack of leather then yes bars will sell for more.
ok mining it is 
Skinning you can do while level grinding and it won’t slow you down too much. Mining requires you to halt everything else to go pick a node. If your trying to grind gold while leveling go skinning.

i plan on doing engineering so maybe mining would be the better play
You guys sell the ore, or hoard it all for the eventual shift to engineering?
i really wouldn’t work on engineering while leveling if i were you. its expensive and need to save gold for your mount at 40
i’m new to wow so for engineering, so what can ore be used to make
Pretty sure all of it, plenty of bombs and gadgets. Huge money sink to level, though.
