Ive always been a mostly solo player in every game I play.
Im pretty much anti-social.
DK appealed to me for a very long time because of their selfish, self-sustaining, independent kit. Our niche was basically the immobile juggernaut. Fight me alone and you will die, however its not very hard to just run away from me and choose a better opportunity to fight me.
Always able to keep ourselves alive…
Nowadays, since late BFA, DK’s cant heal themselves at all.
We aren’t independent.
We aren’t juggernauts.
We have virtually no self-sustain relative to other classes, even though self-sustain was our identity for YEARS.
This class isn’t itself anymore, and i no longer enjoy it at all.
Yes, i know how to use Death Strike. That doesn’t make it good, especially with the massive amounts of resource downtime we’re experiencing.
It just seems like you want to crush and be at the top of the food chain like old times. There has to be some sense of balance, even if it feels like you’ve had things taken away (which we did), it doesn’t mean you still can’t be strong still. I personally haven’t experienced what you are describing, especially with a lot of the things added back to DK such as anti magic zone, lichbane and the upcoming covinants.
Once insanely OP and now we aren’t. It is what it is, and maybe one day they will be at the top again.
Not OP.
Strong but avoidable.
Strong, but i don’t choose the terms that my battles are fought. The other, more mobile, more utility based classes do.
Yes, I’d like to beat them 1v1, pretty much by default in the scenario that they try to 1v1 to the face and don’t use their mechanically superior kits to outplay me through resets, or through forcing me into circumstances i cant win.
Ok, but the current meta is “Strong but beatable”.
Because no one should have to avoid you, in an MMO.
As only a solo player, you’ll also have a lot of problems with the “strong” part. Why should a solo player have the gear to beat Mythic raid geared, high key pushers or high rated PvP players ?
If this is based on pre-patch then take a break until SL goes live. I have a Paladin, Warrior, Priest all around ilvl 115-120 and none of them can survive for long in PvP right now…that’s just pre patch balance.
Of course. I agree. It’s there, and I could see maybe using it if you can’t get a Death Strike off, but is the cost vs the return worth it? I guess it would depend on the situation? I dunno.
From a pvp perspective I would say hardest match ups are paladin and DH, I can handle most other classes 1v1. As blood I struggle vs hunters as well because they have good self heals.
When you can’t get a Death Strike off. Yeah. I could see using it. Like I said. But that would only be if your target is out of range. If you’re in melee is it worth prioritizing over Death Strike? That’s my question.
