What keyboard setup for MM Hunter?

I am a newer player, started in BFA 8.3 but couldn’t get into it. Husband is hardcore raider so I understand the game pretty well…

I am just wondering, for PVE, to make my attacks a little more linear, where you guys put each of your spells/combat for rotation on your keyboard and/or mouse. Like Keyboard “1” for Aimed Shot, mouse 3 for Y, Keyboard “F” for Arcane Shot. I still seem to be fumbling around a lot.

Hoping to pick up a few pointers to help me streamline. Oh and btw, do you guys use a pet while leveling as MM? If so which?

I mean keyboard binds are purely subjective. It’s just about getting a decent setup that you are comfortable with and getting used to it. No one is going to be able to tell you the best bind for you.

The only rule of thumb that could be applied to everyone is have reactive things on easily accessible buttons. For instance you don’t want counter shot on like Shift 8 or something like that, you want to be able to interrupt at a moments notice. Personally I use F for pretty much all my kicks across toons, it’s a quick button to press and at this point after years of using it it’s just muscle memory.

As far as pet during leveling. That’s up to you, either way is viable. Personally I didn’t use one, I like the extra damage of lone wolf (aimed opener with careful aim will one shot a decent percentage of quest mobs) and it’s simple enough to kite as a hunter so I didn’t have any issues. For rare elite’s I’d usually swap to BM, just the solo capabilities of BM are insane. If you wanted a pet as MM probably take a tenacity pet, maybe a turtle? Not really sure tbh, I usually run petless as MM or just go BM if needed.

For me I generally keep actions I use frequently or if I need to react quickly (like using countershot (Q for me)) close to my WASD keys as I still use those for movement. It allows for less distance travelled and faster response times. I only use the 1-5 Keybinds with my fingers. 6-0 I use with a 12 button gaming mouse. I’d recommend looking into one of those if you don’t have one already. Keep in mind it will take some getting used to to develop that muscle memory. Also try to find where your hand will rest naturally on it; specifically your thumb. You’ll want to bind keys to that that are for a quick response like Disengage or PVP trinket.

Personally I have WM on so I always use a Hyena for the healing reduction it has, but for soloing Torghast I like using the mechanical spiders that have the 50% damage reduction which can save my pet and potentially me. Generally for open world having a pocket tank is nice. The DPS loss of Lone Wolf means nothing for WQ’s or storyline progression.

Here’s a link on how to tame the Mechanical spiders. Should be a cakewalk once you hit 60.

This. Muscle Memory is going to be the key to any “good” setup. Once you can look at the screen, see that you need to use aimed shot, and can hit it without looking for the key or even having to question where the key is, you’ll be good for the most part.

I remember running into some issues binding stuff on the mouse. I had Feign Death on the scroll wheel (+shift). Doing this combination seemed to cause my ring finger to press the right mouse button and negate the FD effect at times. I also had Disengage on a button on the left side of the mouse. The act of pressing it would make my whole hand shift a little, which changed my final direction. Annoying stuff like this is sometimes subtle enough that you tend to disregard it, I guess. Maybe I just have crap hands.

Keybinds are whatever feels comfortable.

If you have a Naga mouse, I highly recommend you use it all.
