Every now and again when I’m fighting, eclipse just procs. I thought it was Arcanic Pulsar, but that says it’s every 9 starsurges. Sometimes this happens when I moonfire or sunfire something.
Anybody know what’s causing this?
(It’s super annoying because it will actually reset your eclipse and clear your damage stacks, so I want to disable it)
Taking a gamble on this one, but are you running Visions of Perfection Major?

Yes! It triggers that? Dang it!
I’d log a bug for it, but it’s going away in two weeks. What a pain though.
Log a bug for it . . .pretty sure that is what its supposed to do so ???

The essence is working correctly; however, it’s probably not supposed to reset your stacks on eclipse, nor the time remaining.
For example, with a full AP bar you can pop celestial alignment for 20s on empowerment. Fire starsurge off twice for a 32% empowerment bonus, then immediately have the essence proc and reset your eclipse to 6s with a 20% bonus. It’s two different design intents at odds with each other.
However, since the essences are going away with SL, it’s only a problem until then… so I highly doubt Blizzard will bother. I mean, I wouldn’t…
The thing that indicates it may be working correctly is that arcanum pulsar does the same thing, and it’s a legendary effect in SL. I swapped to worldvein due to the annoyance
I’m guessing you mean celestial alignment/incarn instead of eclipse?
Vision major will cause it to proc (and it can proc while ca/incarn are already rolling adding more duration).
Eclipse will only proc when you fulfill the “cast two <wrath/star fire>” requirement.
Edit
Reading more comments I’m understanding the issue more clearly. Vision CA proc resets your eclipse state…that’s a weird interaction. Is it doing it for arcanic pulsar trait as well?
While that is annoying its a temporary issue due to SL coming and essences leaving.
But good point that we get an arcane pulsar esc thing and if that is doing the same thing in SL, then yea we have an issue. It should extend the CA not override it.
So as we all march into SL, keep eyes on this and let see if we can get this hammered out.
I looked up the legendary. It’s Primordial Arcanic Pulsar. The effect reads…
Every 300 Astral Power spent grants Celestial Alignment for 9 sec.
So yea, this would presumably proc both Solar and Lunar Eclipse, but I have no idea what it will do to an existing eclipse state. I would definitely agree that it’s a bug if it resets your existing Eclipse states due to pressing your Celestial Alignment button (which gives you 20s for both).
Before I submit this, is anybody able to test? Or, failing that, post on the beta druid thread (https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/feedback-druid-class-changes/490706/1120) to see if anybody else can test it? Feel free to link back to this thread.
*Edit: I went and dug through that thread… it looks like people have been reporting it. Here’s hoping that Blizzard fixes it before SL goes live, otherwise that will be a very risky legendary to take.

Honestly though, I’m not even sure how to solve this. I mean, you could just make it extend the current eclipse while proc’ing the other one, but I feel like that might set up a window where you could potentially extend an eclipse forever. While some of us might desire that, I’m not sure that’s Blizzard’s design intent. Maybe?
I’m not sure, but could you generate 300 AP within a 9s window? Probably not, actually… you can barely generate 100, though this definitely sets the stage for possible interaction issues down the line.
It extends celestial duration when it procs. There are some instances where it’s a bit jarring though.
E.g have just set up to spend a whole lunar window “nuking” (tickling more than usual) on AOE. And then it procs only giving you 10 secs instead or whatever. But since it also double dips mastery on a couple of things its still more damage.
Pulsar is going to continue to be a bit jarring like that in Shadowlands. Just have to quickly change to casting the optimal spell (wrath or starfire) rather than wherever you were at with your rotation.
The best thing about these procs is it gives a reset afterwards and allows you to choose your eclipse again. Does come with that cost of jarring you out of what your current plan was though.
I just hope they tune it right so it’s not a dps loss to proc it, no matter what the scenario is. Can see them getting this wrong, along with half the other things with the core spec mechanics and tuning.
I mentioned this back when prepatch hit and everyone ignored me.
The eclipse reset when VoP procs.
Maybe it was you who said it; but I recalled it from someone else! I listened! Lol
Ok good, thanks for clarifying! So yea, the problem with 8.x stuff will solve itself in a couple weeks
I am in the process of switching to my druid as my main, so I probably wouldn’t have seen it. It’d be nice if we could have a thread full of patch relevant important information that we could sticky at the top though… that feels like the kinda thing folks would want to know.
Or maybe I should just join the class discord… haha I keep saying I’m gonna do that and then years go by.
I think there’s a legendary with the same effect. Not sure if it’ll be the go-to or not, last sims I saw had others in-front.
But celestial procs aren’t gone, so it’ll likely be valuable to get used to it now.
Definitely having a trait and an essence both proc our big CD is propping the spec up right now though. Still not competitive even with a 6 sec proc and a 10 sec one - not good.
The balance community reps interviewed by sloot estimated a +20-30% dmg buff was required in beta to get the spec more in line. Not sure if any changes have come since then.
