The difference is really that in FFXIV, builder spender happens as part of pressing your buttons in the correct order while in wow there’s not so much of a correct order as there is a spell priority.
The ranged-magical dps are more similar in style to wow but still have the rotation that must not be interrupted. I remember that dying as a SMN used to be an unrecoverable DPS loss because of the ~2min windup it used to have.
i want to say wow has more dynamic combat, and things are more random, where FFXIV is a dance in both mechanics and gameplay. Part of that is, indeed, the procs we have.
But also it’s like… A slot machine, enh-shaman can spam stormstrike to victory if they’re lucky with procs but a dancer couldn’t spam saber dance even if they got really really lucky.
The closest thing we have is WW monk, i suppose, since you aren’t supposed to press the same thing twice in a row, but even WW monk is more dynamic than FFXIV monk because WW monk doesn’t have a set order, just a rule.
