To be fair, I don’t see much of a change from the other exp. I was recently schooled into the gold making part of engy. Apparently tis all about the mounts/pets of previous exp and that’s about it.
I have 2 engis and they both make gold and I never even check crafting orders.
Why do need crafting orders anyway?
So I have to use 5 expansion old abilities to be able to make money as Engi, got it.
For me, engy is about the QoL. Never about making gold!
Don’t get me wrong, the odd prof tool or bracer do come along. Last season I made good helping a few lizards with there legendary weapon, many wanted a good legendary feel and paid awesome fees!
Loot a rang, the various transports, various iterations of the jumper cables and I am certain that I a missing many others. When I am in doubt about my profession for new toon, it is going to be a combination of engineering and something else! After a mage, engineers are the most mobile toons, regardless of classes. I am all the way in the far corner of the Reach and I get that story quest popping? I am in the span 5 seconds later!
Sorry wall of text, please don’t just stop at the gold earnings potential when it comes to that profession and you will enjoy it a lot more.
This profession used to be fun. Now we are heavily restricted to the point of near uselessness and I dont understand the change (started in wlk)
Yesterday, I got a crafting order for 50k
It’s not a great money maker, but every once in a while someone takes pity on you
But at least I have the Wormhole Generator
Engineering is a good mettle profession. Take your weekly Artisan’s Mettle and use the insights to churn out rank 3 Arclight Vital Capacitors and make a solid ~2k per craft until you run out. In addition I’m also a gnome on my engineer so I can profit off HSV Arclights and Overcharged Overclockers which is pretty good too.
How do you do this?
Basically get knowledge/tools maxxed out, get some Artisan’s mettle from weekly activity (You can get 150 for free + ~150 more if you spend some time doing weekly activities) and turn it into Lesser Illustrious Insight. Equip your Multicraft and craft “Tinker: Arclight Vital Correctors” using insights until you run out of mettle, sell and profit.
There’s a lot of QoL that engineering just makes better
There are definitely in demand items for Engineering.
M+ is definitely a driver for the bracers. The gears for them have good days and bad ones, but they are also dirt cheap to make.
As Shiihura stated, across many groups and thus many want the Arclight Vital Correctors. I don’t think many players realize that they can pop tinkers out to reuse them and treat them like gems (and I’m not here to correct them).
There are still rare toys. I’ve been chasing the Portable Party Platter recipe for ages now by turning out rolling pins. Atomic Recalibrators are popular.
I use the Loot-a-rang as second nature at this point, it’s down to muscle memory. All of the wormholes are convenient as heck. DF, Shadowlands, and Legion provide full control, but using the others I’m always surprised at how close I end up to my desired location.
I do wish they would stop nerfing things, like the cape for goblin gliding and boots that converted/mitigated fall damage should be usable in all content. But I get it.
Find a mage, send her the pins mats, have her make a brand new pin. Then the fun part… Watch her… eat. Need engy ink and paper in your bags. Really the hard part was finding a mage that isn’t weirded out by your strange request.
