Hey guys i wanted to know what ilvl is descent these days in 8.3, not necessary for M+/raid or pvp, just overall. What’s your opinion on it!?
460+ is healthy
470+ is dank
470+ with full cloak resist is broken.

445 if you really don’t want to do much, 460 if you have a bit of motivation.

really depends what you do, the gap is probably the biggest its ever been
445 for casual play, 460 + for more dedicated stuff

My holy priest main is at 480 equipped, what does that make me? Dank with a side of broken?

Corruptions and cloak resist matter more than ilvl.
As a DPS, you aren’t getting into mythic+ past like a 5 or something without being at least 460+. You aren’t getting into anything 10 or above unless you are 470+ and have an IO at least 1500. Don’t even expect to get into 15’s as a non meta DPS pug with no IO score.
For a raid, you largely aren’t going to get into anything heroic at this point without AOTC and a high ilvl.
Your fault for coming back to the game past the 1st week of a patch (I wish that was sarcasm too).

I am 450, with almost all of my alts. I didn’t bother with m+ or with raids this expasion

I would say getting as close to 460 is doable easily enough , to do things easier, but Ilvl is messed up with corruption… pretty sad before you could buy your best corruptions you had ppl wearing 445 gear out dpsing 470 ilvl ppl due to the corruption.
Item level is mostly irrelevant. Corruption and essence progression are way more important. You’ll be 470 within a few weeks of playing at max level, unless you actively avoid endgame activity, but if you don’t have BiS essences and corruption, you’ll be ~25% ad powerful as someone who is, at the same item level.

Once you ding level 120, go look at the AH. For about 30k gold, you can fully gear your character to ilevel 400-415. (Don’t buy a cloak though. :))
Then grab the essences quest to skip your heart of azeroth to level 50.
Then jump through the the legendary cloak quest to get an ilevel 470 cloak.
After that, the emissaries and WQs should be good for ilevel 415+ Azerite gear and other stuff to push your ilevel higher.
Emissaries and WQs scale up to ilevel 445 quest rewards depending on your current ilevel. So skipping from ilevel 300 to 400 via the Auction House will save you a ton of other time gearing up on WQs/Emissaries after that.
You’ll be sort of invincible on the main storyline quests when you get back to those, and maybe solo some world raid bosses, but should be good shape to party with people on heroic+ dungeons and raids. I suspect my ilevel 445 vengeance demon hunter could solo the normal dungeons, but haven’t gone back around to try that.
Edit: And I imagine ilevel 445 is trash for pvp and mythic stuff, but it’s invincible everywhere in the open world content except maybe some nazjatar champions and select world raid bosses. Main point is you can get to 445 just wandering around open world by yourself. And I think nyalotha things scale for 1-5 players and you could do those yourself too. I just haven’t felt the attraction to grind another piece of gear again again again.
Edit2: The Essences are pretty sick. The first two I got by magni getting in my face and me doing whatever and then I had them. 3rd I got from being friendly in nazjatar and just bought it from rep vendor there. 4th I got from being friendly in mechagon and just bought it from rep vendor there. Someone higher up was probably right that maxxing out your essences will make you many times more powerful than someone who hasn’t maxxed out their essences. But you only need that level of power for pvp and mythics.

Ilvl doesn’t really matter after 460 just get the right corruptions/ essences snd stack the right stacks. Just a tip Ilvl doesn’t matter anymore in WoW you will do 30k without the right corruptions and essences on a 460 and on the same toon with right corruption, essences and stats you will do 70+
Ilvl definitely matters past 460. I see a few people saying it doesnt.
Same corruptions on 2 characters. 1 is 469 ilvl, the other is 477. One does 81k (simmed single target), the other does 97k.
