What is your opinion on bringing back unobtainable items?

This isnt a serious post, theres really nothing outside of corrupted ashbringer id like. On other games i have those “rare” and “fomo” unobtainable items and tbh i couldnt care at all if someone today got em. Do you feel that something being unobtainable makes it better in your opinion and if so why? I used to like being the special pony in games where i flex that i played a game before someone else but genuinely i couldnt care less. I think mop remix overall was very well recieved and i believe most players really didnt care about their rare cloud serpeant drop being so easily obtainable. Im wondering if blizz will ever start re-releasing unobtainable things maybe even in the next remixes or timewalking vendors. Also this is probably a hot take and bit off topic but i wish this collectors bounty would be permanent. i just cant think of why it shouldnt be.

From my perspective, it’s just pixels and I judge companies pretty harshly for taking content away, or making items become arbitrarily rare on purpose. But the items themselves are just pixels, so I really don’t care about them very much in the grand scheme of things. The corporations do earn my disdain though, based on principle.

I would rather they be brought back and tied to a similar challenge. Mage tower, mythic 10 instead of CM. That kind of thing.

I don’t really have a satisfactory answer for how to work that into pvp rewards.

Bring back everything. Gladiator mounts, elite pvp sets, I mean everything. Some things can and should be difficult to obtain after the fact, but it should at least be possible.

I’d be fine with them bringing back stuff that is at least 2 expansions old.

I don’t really trust them to do it well.

ya i completely agree, i like the idea of being engaged when i farm something, so that is probably alot better than the “throw it in a vendor” approach i initially said

Rare drops being less annoying to farm? Always good. Though last time someone threw a fit about the Sha of Anger mount in Remix, I walked out to Pandaria, instakilled the boss, and got the mount that way to demonstrate the point that RNG mounts weren’t hard but tedious to get as someone who had the mounts from Elegon, Sha of Anger, and Ji-kun before MoP remix dropped.

As for unobtainables? Ehh. That’s tricky, a lot of them are neat and some are underwhelming and couldn’t care less about, as much as I would want the Naxx protos or a black qiraj battle tank, I do feel that once everyone has them they immediately lose any appeal they had, especially as someone who didn’t get them when they were previously available. While I got some fancy weapon appearances from Mage Tower, there are only a few times I’d actually use them enough to care and if those were given out it wouldn’t really matter aside from being consistent in their approach to stuff like that.

I’m for bringing back everything as long as the way you obtain them is still a challenge (if it was a challenge).

I have many removed mounts/armos/weapons/titles

Literally bring it all back from its originally sources, even without making it scale to modern levels or whatever

Someone wants to spend 2 hours running around and blowing up every pandaland challenge mode? Have at it bro, doesn’t remove the fact I’ve had them for years before you got them

They should bring everything back. There is simply not a good reason not too unless it creates some sort of new bug or something. We are all renting time. Imagine if you went to rent a room and you weren’t allowed to use the doors. Or, rent a car and it doesn’t come with a steering wheel…you need to spend 50 hours holding down the w key on your key card to use the steering wheel but only after you find it. …
Sounds kinda dumb huh… If everything was available…people would have what they want…they would be happy and nothing at all would change. The only effects would be net positive across the board. It’s really a no brainer tbh. For all those people who think they have some sort of special achievements to keep for only themselves…nobody gives half a flying fart about your account. They want it for themselves…nobody is special. None of this is even real.

TBH it sort of may be. Not permanent-permanent but another annual event on the calendar.

If crap like the Diablo anniversary gets a regular recurring event, why not this.

You don’t care about these things but you hate when companies provide them? That doesn’t make any sense. Why would you get upset about something you don’t care about?

they said they harshly judge when companies take away things in the game that the playerbase paid for and im sure this isnt just limited to mogs/pixes and tbh i completely agree, i think no item should leave a game we spend money on, players should be able to keep the content in the game

The items themselves do not mean a lot to me. The idea of companies artificially raising their value is pretty cringy though.

They are pixels; they actually have zero value unless they are attached to someone’s account. Why take away content you have already made? That equates to less value for everyone, from my perspective; Its slimy.

If I’m able to get them it will make me happy, if I don’t I won’t be any worse off. It’s about balance, but it won’t keep me from trying.

If a collectable only has value to you because other people can’t have it, then it doesn’t hold any value to you.

What holds value to you is the smug sense of superiority you feel when you see people wanting something you have that they’re not allowed to even try for.

This is actual supervillain behavior, and no design choices should ever be made to cater to it under any circumstances.

I’m all for it.

I’ve always been against that whole “create value through artificial scarcity” thing.

Plus, the point of those unobtainable items is usually, as Blizzard described it, “bragging rights”. Personally I find that braggartry is bad behavior.

its a video game…literally SUPPOSED to be about FUN…bring them all back…rename them to make them unique if need be.

I’m 100% for it, and I say that as someone who has many removed items.
